  1. Display pivot table headers in the columns headers

With the tables, if the header is not visible, Excel displays the headers of the table in the columns headers (see the picture attached)

It will be great to have the same behaviour with the pivot tables

  2. Bring Power Pivot closer to Power BI Desktop Functionality

Development for Power Pivot for Excel seems to have stopped around 2016. TREATAS got added as a DAX function that works, but it never got added to Intellisense, and that was nearly 3 years ago.

Today, the two measure editors (still no idea why there are different ones) are a very VERY poor substitute for the fantastic DAX editor in Power BI Desktop. It is a real pain to properly tab and indent in the Excel Measure editor(s).

In the last year there have been about a dozen new DAX functions and several updated functions per https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/dax/new-dax-functions but NONE of…

  3. Document DAX with enough detail to not have to take a 3rd-party course to learn it

Microsoft has done an OK job documenting the DAX functions, and this is fine for those that already understand DAX. However, there is little documentation to understand DAX in the first place and users must resort to taking SQLBI's Mastering DAX course to learn basic concepts such as context transition, data lineage, expanded tables, and the evaluation of CALCULATE. The current cost and effort required to learn DAX are a deterrent for anyone thinking of using DAX in their work, which hinders the adoption of DAX.

Please lower the barrier to entry by thoroughly documenting DAX in a user-friendly way…

  4. Please allow functionality to turn pivot table to basic spreadsheet.

It would be very flexible to be able to deconstruct pivot table into basic worksheet. This should break the connection and all pivot table propertiies. Of course it would be irreversible.

  5. Power Query: Name new worksheet from "Load to…"

It should be possible to name the new worksheet from the "load to…" function in Power Query. Any table that is created inherits the name of the query that produced it, but the worksheet always receives a default "Sheet1". For my purposes, inheriting the query name would be sufficient. Others may wish to name it from within PQ.

  6. Please allow the ability to change pivot table source data connection

I inherited a pivot table tied to a private database. I want to keep the pivot table but change the underlying data source. This is currently impossible so I'm having to recreate the whole thing from scratch.

  7. Hide filter arrows (display option)

Filter arrows should be able to be hidden in all tables (including PivotTables). This is especially applicable when using linked tables in a PowerPoint presentation.

In the PivotTable Options > Display menu there is a checkbox for "Display field captions and filter drop downs". This should be split into two options: "Display field captions" and "Filter drop downs", with Filter drop downs having two sub-boxes: "Remove filtering" and "Show filter arrow when hovering". This would make the filtering arrow only appear when the curser was hovering over the box or it was the active cell.

  9. Multilevel Add/Remove blank row after each item in Pivot Tables

I have a tabular form Pivot Table with four Row fields. I would like a blank row after the end of the first and second fields, but not afterwards. With the 'Add a blank row after each item' command, I get a blank row between every line of data, rather than having the lesser fields grouped together with no blank line. I would like to be able to select a field entry and have the command add a blank line at the level of the selected field.

  11. Comments on Pivot Tables

    Hi

I would either like the ability to put comments on individual cells within a pivot table (and eventually retrieve this)

Using PTs a lot to cross check and make notes about what needs fixing but filtering a long PT doesn't filter the associated rows outside of said PT to keep comments aligned

  12. Multiple pivot table on same data to have different grouping

Allow pivot table to be independent - changing grouping etc. or even updating on one should be independent from the others. A common example is wanting different data grouping on different pivot tables.

  13. Show implicit measures in the Manage Measures window

Please show implicit measures in the Manage Measures window (which is accessible from Excel's Power Pivot tab) and label them as such. This would make it easier to find them for later migration to explicit measures and removal.

  14. Allow disabling of the Quick Explore feature

The quick explore feature is cute, but it destroys the shape and format of the pivot table. I can't have some uninformed user selecting that icon and screwing up the worksheet as the entire pivot table changes and morphs with the new filters. Crazy! Allow it to be turned off, just like the drill down feature (enable show details).

  15. Pivot Table Additional Feature

In the Pivot Table Field Settings - it's usually a pain having to always refer to the main field section to drop any column especially in the Value section where we have recurring details - hence the need to have like a tooltip drop down to change the columns not having to remove the former and then have to go drag and drop the next (e.g. in data involving daily sales in columns) - see image for clarity

  16. Crear Tablas dinámicas (pivot tablas) y modificarlas en IPad

Debería ser posible crear y modificar Tablas Dinámicas en el iPad.

Excel para IPad no sirve de mucho sin esta opción

  17. Timeline slicer breaks with spaces in blank cells

    HI MS

It appears as though the timeline slicers are breaking when there is a space in a blank cell. This is frustrating as it is difficult to fine because the cell appears to be blank. Can you fix this or do i have work around it a trim/clean formula?

  18. Add selected hierarchy level from PivotTable fields with drag and drop (instead of top level)

Drag and drop of a hierarchy sublevel from the PivotTable fields list to Filters/Rows/Columns should show the selected level.

    Example:

We have a region hierarchy with two levels, continent and country.
In the PivotTable Fields list, we see the field Region Hierarchy and can expand it to see the two fields Continent and Country.
When a user wants to see the countries, he will drag the Country field to the Filters/Rows/Columns.
But Excel always puts Continent there and then the user has to drill down to Country or hide the Continent field from Rows/Columns.

So Excel should drop the selected…

  19. Bug: From PivotTable Fields, right click on hierararchy level, "Add to " doesn't add the selected field

There is a bug with hierarchy levels in the PivotTable Fields list with SSAS as a data source.

I have a tabular model with several dimension tables and hierarchies.
In the Excel PivotTable Fields list, I navigate to a hierarchy and expand the levels.
Right click on a sublevel, then a context menu allows to "Add to Report Filter", "Add to Row Labels" etc.
Doing this, Excel adds a field from another hierarchy from a completely different dimension instead of the selected one.
Possibly this depends on hidden fields in SSAS?

  20. Reword the choices for the positions of grand totals

When you have a PivotTable cell selected, go to the Design tab and then Grand Totals. The choices are:
    • Off for Rows and Columns
    • On for Rows and Columns
    • On for Rows Only
    • On for Columns Only

At a glance, the options visually look too similar. The change in capitalization is nauseating and the wording is confusing. When the grand totals are on for columns, the columns will be summarized in a grand total row. When the grand totals are on for rows, the rows will be summarized in a grand total column. You really need…
