  1. Select Pivot Table by name

I would like to have the possibility to select a PivotTable by name.

In a PivotTable chart, the source tells you what is the PivotTable name but then, you have so select all your PivotTables one by one to find the correct PivotTable.
So if you can add a tool that is able to select a PivotTable by name, it will save a lot of time.

    Thanks

    • Bug: wrong data from OLAP source

Incorrect values of dimension in pivot table sourced on OLAP cube (Microsoft SSAS 11.0.5569.0). The latest version without that bug is 16.0.6001.1068. Obviously we don’t know exact source of this bug, but most of the issues we discovered were on complex pivot tables with many attributes, partially displayed dimension’s hierarchy and without subtotals. Example of this bug occurring is in attached file ExcelBug. There are 2 exactly the same pivot tables (the table on the right hand side is basically copy of the table on the left hand side). After removing “Grand Total” on the table on the right hand…

      • Expand Pivot Tables without overwriting existing data beneath or to the right of table

With all the queries on the internet, we assume there is no built-in option to prevent pivot tables from overwriting data beneath the table during refresh and expansion. Is that correct?

Given that Excel has options for 'inserting' rows, why in the world would Microsoft NOT provide a pivot table expansion/contraction option for inserting or deleting rows from within the refreshed table without overwriting data beneath or to the right of the table?

It is also interesting that inserting rows into a regular Excel table, using the TAB key in the last row, can add rows by expanding the table…

        • Better Support for Analysis Services Tabular

It's about time to improve support for SSAS Tabular:
          1. Auto-generate DAX
          2. Avoid splitting a table into a "measure group" and "dimension". See how PBI Desktop handles metadata.
          3. Carry over data types so that users can create reports, such as show me invoices where Due Date is greater than ... Currently, all dimension table fields map to Text.
          4. Many customers have expressed interest to connect Excel tables directly to Tabular, bypassing Pivot Table, so they can use the column dropdowns and other Excel goodness.
          5. Support descriptions as tooltips when the user hovers on a field in…

          • Pivot Table Management

It would be nice to have a way to manage multiple pivot tables similar to the way the name manager works, with a possible error log, in the case of overlapping or missing source data

              • Allow Power Query to get parameters from cell values

With MS Query, I could replace a portion of the SQL code that would be executed with a "parameter" from a cell. I realize this opens up the possibility of code injection, but with proper input validation in Power Query, this should not be an issue. The way parameters are set now in Power Query, there is no way to dynamically get a value from a cell, only to either manually type it in, or get one from another query. There's also no way to pass the manually entered parameter to the SQL code, only to filter on results, which…

                • Power Pivot Option in Excel app of Home & Business 2016 version

I purchased the office home & business 2016 for PC version. The idea was to learn features like power pivot/Power queryl. but to my dismay this version of the excel does not have this feature in built. Isn't this supposed to be a standard feature

                  • Need normal filter option for pivot

Using Pivot Table, it gives a filter option for 1 or 2 columns only. Why cant we have a simple filter, that we use in a normal table. To get that, I copy paste my pivot into a text in excel, then apply a normal filter for my working.

                        • Allow dates to display un-grouped by default

Make a setting to allow dates to display un-grouped by default. Currently when you add dates to the pivot table fields it creates the quarter, month, year deal and you have to right click and ungroup. I see the usefulness of both ways but ungrouped is used far more by some users.

                          • Refresh All for Pivots and data connections should have a way to set up the order of update

Refresh All for Pivots and data connections should have a way to set up the order - at least how it progresses from tab to tab, or from top to down on a sheet. Right now, it seems like a black hole on which pivot/tab is getting updated first and which one is last if I have a workbook with 10 tabs and close to 30 pivots and few data connections. I do not see a way to either set an order or find the order in which Refresh All is working.

                            • group by business year/quarter/month in pivot tables using Wednesday rule

I love the way PivotTables automatically group by year, quarter, month in Excel 2016, however, in my job we use the Wednesday Rule to determine business dates and Excel's grouping method often doesn't work. Please consider adding this as an option for PivotTables. Thank you!

What is the Wednesday rule? If the first first day of the month is after Wednesday, then that week falls into the prior business month. Conversely, if the first day of the month is Sunday through Wednesday, then that week is included in the current business month.

                              • PivotTables should respect Sets order for interspersed Total Columns

The Sets interface allows the setting of column orders, including interspersing "All" value columns. However, the PivotTable ignores ordering for "All" valued columns and always locates them at the end of the table. If the PivotTables respected this ordering it would greatly increase to user's ability choose how they want their data displayed.

DAX measure filter is not retained in excel pivot table show details sheet. Appreciate any help.

"I filtered for Application Status = "Active" in the measure and it showed the count correctly in pivot table (143),
whereas when I double clicked pivot to see show details sheet, I saw not only "Active" but all statuses and the count is 211"

                                    • Tooltips support for SSAS Tabular

Support descriptions which are a saved property in an SSAS Tabular model as tooltips when the user hovers on a field in the Field List. This is the way PowerBI works and would allow model developers to provide explanations of measures or dimensions to users in the field list. In effect, this would allow to Tabular model to be self documenting.

                                      • Ability to lock moving and resizing of TimeLines

Currently it is not possible to create a Timeline that can be interacted with by the user, but not moved or resized. For the Slicer, the option "Disable resizing and moving" is available. For the TImeline however, this option is permanently greyed out rendering the method impossible. I've searched for countless of hours and the only responses from Microsoft support have been "That is not possible, sry". It just doesn't make sense that you can do it with Slicers but not with Timelines. Please fix this.

                                        • Power query relationship with worksheets

When a worksheet is copied, any Power Query associated with tables on the sheet is not repeated.(This in contrast to the way VBA works).

Furthermore there is no way of identifying the worksheet on which a table sits from within a Power Query, I can see no way of writing worksheet-independent functions to overcome this problem.

This leaves us with having to use VBA to create new Power Queries when sheets are copied. Messy and, in some instances, unacceptable to the end user.

Please can we have a means of attaching power queries to worksheets so they are copied and…
