Ctrl+Tab to switch between worksheets
Just as we use Alt+Tab to switch between two workbooks, let Ctrl+Tab switch between two worksheets in a workbook.

Horrible decision. I spend most of my working time usually with more than 4 workbooks open at the same time.
Now i spent a lot more time during my work tryng to shift between workbooks and for me it means losing money.
My mind is still frozen to CTRL-TAB command and every time automatically i use it, i think how stupid and crazy was that decision.
Ctrl+Tab and Ctrl+Shift+Tab really do need to go back to how they used to work (next/previous workbook)!
Hi, the shortcut to switch between successive workbooks is now Ctrl + Shift + Tab.
That works for me
Need this fixed ASAP!!!!! Without this Excel is 10,000 times harder to use.
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE! REOPEN THIS!!!!!
CTRL+Tab only switiches between two workbooks. But what if a person has 3 or more? The old way you could use CTRL+Tab to move forward through workbooks and CTLR+SHIFT+TAB to cycle backwards. ALT+TAB cycles through all windows. I think most people would agree that having a keyboard function to cycle though only excel workbooks would be more helpful. I use excel everyday and have multiple workbooks opened at once. There has to be a way this can get fixed
I prefer switching by Alt+Tab. I'm not so familiar with this new style, and it takes me a lot of time to cross check between sheet. I have no confusion working with previous style. This one is just so ******* me off. Anyone know how I can remove this tabbed window excel, please!!!
Just adding my two cents..........Ctrl-Tab was my GO-TO keyboard shortcut for switching between workbooks, now it's gone in Excel 2016 and it shifts between ALL OPEN PROGRAMS! What is this nonsense? There are so many other ways to see open programs, why did MS have to muck with something that WORKED?
Please re-open this.
ctrl + pg up/down is a terrible solution. it is inconsistent with other applications such as web browsers, and it is hard to reach, requiring a hand to be taken off the mouse in the case of mine and I'm sure many others' keyboards.
the functionality to switch between workbooks is already handled elegantly by the windows system alt+tab shortcut.
Please also correct the behaviour of selecting worksheets so that it is in order of use, and that it is circular and doesn't stop when it reaches the end.
ALREADY SUPPORTED?? No.
It USED to work fabulously. Then somewhere along the way, you guys in your infinite wisdom decided to CHANGE the switching. It is so FUBAR now. There doesn't seem to be much rhyme or reason to how this switching occurs.
For example - I have 5 Excel workbooks open. I have "MASTER", and then I have FY14, FY15, FY16 and FY17 open. If I hit "CTRL+TAB", rather than cycling through all five files, it does this BIZARRE thing:
Master --> FY15 --> Master --> FY14 --> Master --> FY17 --> Master --> FY16 --> Master
HOW does that make any sense?
I am using Lenovo Yoga, office 2016 , In excel cant move from one sheet to another sheet by Ctrl+Pgdn,Any other option?
This saved me! Ctrl + Tab worked for me in switching books:) I am using windows 10 with MS Office 2007
You totally miss the point of this topic.
When having more than 2 workbooks open, Ctrl-Tab should cycle trough the open Excel workbooks, just like Alt-Tab does that for applications. It used to work well and it was extremely useful! I hate that someone silly decided to change this! And it is inconsistent in its behavior. As you may read, many people want this feature as it was originally.
I hope you or someone escalates this feedback to the MS design team.
Up to Excel 2010 one could switch back and forth between two workbooks using CTRL-TAB, E.g. when comparing/copying on a laptop.
In Excel 2016 a single CTRL-TAB achieves nothing, and a double takes one to another window, which may or may not be Excel.
Useful functionality has been lost - or is there a setting I can change?
just adding my frustration with the multiple other users. Ctrl-Tab worked great until I started using Excel 2016. So frustrating. I think they tried to be "smart" and go back to a recent workbook rather than going to the next workbook that you have open. Go back to the old version which makes sense.
To change this was not a good idea!
Switching between 'active books' is still also possible using the windows task switcher ALT+TAB.
So it's rather useless to spend an extra CTRL+TAB for this.
The new CTRL+PgUp
* hard to reach
* not the same behavior (toggle between sheets)
* does not even cycle thru in Office365.
What a copout to "close this out" when it is not fixed or solved. Ctrl-tab is chaotic. Ctrl-Pgup/Down is only for tabs/worksheets, not open workbooks. Dear god, MS fix it instead of selling us a new *feature* in Office 19. A$$hat$.
Switching between workbooks with Ctrl+tab and Ctrl+Shift_tab worked great up to Excel 2010. Thereafter, it is broken.
Switching between worksheets with Ctrl+page up/down works great in old versions and in new.
The comments show that people are confusing the terms workbook and worksheet.
I regret there is no option to upvote a post. Totally support Scott McGee's comment made on Jan 12th. Excel 2003 used to cycle through all open sheets in the order they were opened and similar feature was supported in Excel 2010, but I now have XL 2013 and it does things that are plainly strange...
I'm using Office 2016 for Mac but Alt+Tab doesn't work for me when I want to switch between worksheets. What's the new shortcut?

I second Scott McGee and Ian Trevena, Ctrl-Tab (and Shift-Ctrl-Tab) used to work like a charm, and now it is completely useless (so it isn't like it's been replaced by another great feature). Please bring the old functionality back! (Or at least make it an option that doesn't require some third-party add-in or VBA workaround.)
