Please Fix Excel - Performance of new versions ~50 times slower than older versions
We have several Excel 64bit applications for customer sites, that populate a sheet with data from various automation controllers. Where as these applications have be performing flawlessly with Version 1902 or earlier versions of Excel, new versions 2012 and 2101 cannot operate the code. We have identified these newer versions are incredibly slower than the older versions mentioned when populating cells. A simple For Next loop confirmed that version 2012 is between 40 to 60 times slower, version 2101 somewhere between 30 and 50 times slower in performing the same basic task of writing cells from one sheet to another than version 1902 and earlier versions.
The resulting bottleneck results in the Excel freezing, input and output locked, finally resulting the the crash of Excel itself, culminating in the restart of Excel with "recovered" versions of the Excel application.
This dramatically slower inferior characteristic of the new Excel versions have required the removal and reinstallation of the older versions.
What changed? Why are these new versions inferior in basic VBA applications than the older versions? We have a support ticket opened with Microsoft (23905543) and have already tried "upgrading" from 2012 to 2101 among other suggestions, with insufficient results.
