Change standart number format
I always change my number format to accounting and remove the decimals or number with thousand separator and no decimals. While this task is easy it's annoying to do in every single workbook. It would be super helpful if there was an option somewhere that would let me change my default number format. I know there is an option to automatically add a decimal, this would be pretty much the same thing except instead of a decimal, it would add a thousand separator.

I managed to find that way as well, but as far as I can tell, that would then format the whole workbook to number format. I'd like it to know that whenever i write a number format it with a thousand separator and no decimals and when typing text use the normal "general" formatting.
I gues typing text in a number formatted cell would be ok, but adding a template would not affect all my existing workbooks, but a standard format would :)
It does, in a way, provide a mechanism for this.
Not a setting, per se, like we would usually look for and like the decimal thing you mention. Rather one needs to open a spreadsheet, then make this and any other changes to it that one would like to have be in every new spreadsheet, and finally, save it as the Normal template that Excel bases each new spreadsheet on.
Details can be slightly different from version to version, mostly in where the template is.
It really ought to be more accessible, and wouldn't several templates to choose fom when opening a new spreadsheet really be more interesting? Or check a box to only have the normal one created if not interested. But no... not here... (sigh...)
