Auto Save Option to change rev of file when opening
When a file is opened with autosave, alert the user and recommend to save the file with a revision name or a new name. In many cases, users open files to use them as templates and do not intend to change the original file. IF the file is not on sharepoint, you cannot go back to the previous version and you loose the original file. I instructed my staff to try to do save as or copy as right when they open a file, but it is hard to remember to do that. And of course, we want the auto save feature. If the file is not in Auto save, then ask when the file is opened if the user wants autosave. and if yes, ask if the user prefers to start the autosave under a different name or revision. The default should also be that a rev number should be added to the file name if it is open with autosave, and the user can elect to change that.

The user could also choose to maintain the file name because the user intention is to actual edit the original file. But as I saw in a previous suggestion, it is dangerous the way it is right now because you do loose old files, and it is also dangerous turn autosave off because it happens where you can loose your work by mistake (this is why autosave was introduced).
