Intelligent options for data labels in charts
We need better options for formatting and positioning data labels in charts.
*better positioning options, including above left, below left, above right, below right, etc.
*ability to specify offset (distance from data point), both horizontal and vertical
*ability to nudge data labels with keyboard arrows
*ability to display label for min or max data point, for first data point, for last data point, for every other data point, etc.
*Tickbox option for all the data labels to match data color or some such (match the font of the data label to the line color, for example)
ability to resize data label width and have it stick*! Maybe this is an option to not wrap label text by default?
inside/outside position options for donut chart labels
outside position option for stacked column chart labels
*ability to format all data labels in a chart at the same time.
*ability to easily label a line (or column or whatever, but used often with lines) with series or category, separate from the value. Think line charts that label the lines directly rather than adding a legend.
I'm sure there are more, but this would be a good start.
Oh, and along the lines of labeling axes,
*We should be able to stagger category axis so the labels can be horizontal and readable.
*We should also be able to control 2-level (multi-level) category axes more easily.
*We should be able to start a histogram category axis at a specific number without having to add dummy data to fake it.
*The 100 offset and the 0 offset are not different enough to control the distance between the axis label and the axis itself. 0 should touch the axis.
