Improve speed of Tables with Filters
I have a long career history with Excel. That is what I work in all day everyday. Whether it be building an automated workbook, complex data connections using multiple workbooks and external data sources. I have a love hate relationship with Excel. I find anytime I use tables or just filters in general, add a few formulas (volatile or non-volatile) the workbook recalculates every time a filter is applied. Sometimes the workbook will freeze up and produce a white screen. Also, it can’t handle big data even with a power packed pc running 64bit on a 64bit Excel 2016 Pro platform. This has been an issue since 2010 and Microsoft claimed to have a fix. However, you can find millions of posts from folks having the same issue still. This needs to be fixed as it is extremely embarrassing to build something in Excel for my co-workers to use, only to have them complain about its speed and then they don’t use it. Which makes me look like I don’t know what I am doing and eventually loosing my position. Excel is loosing ground as an effective to for analyzing data. It’s only a matter of time before something comes along and takes its place.
