Give feedback regularly on suggestions on UserVoice for Excel (at least for the popular or hot ones)
It's great to be able to suggest improvements to Excel, express our frustration with features that don't work as expected or communicate use case that we, as users, think should be supported. It's a great opportunity for Excel to improve brand involvement, attachment and brand responsiveness (and of course of improving the product and user satisfaction).
feedback from admins is so irregular and infrequent... sometimes years... even on some of the most popular suggestions
that this site end's up contributing to our frustration and eroding the trust in the Excel brand.
Microsoft Excel is a strong brand, but no brand is immune to erosion and, at some point, negative feelings and image associated with it will damage it enough that it will reflect on it's value and ability to retain market shares.
The users coming here and taking the time to post suggestions care about Excel. I suspect a lot of the users who find their way here are power user that act as ambassadors for Excel in their organization. But also people who spent a lot of time just living with the frustration/problem/need before spending more time scouring the Internet for a fix and then ending up here...
Please show some respect and acknowledge the points made in the most popular suggestions. No suggestion with hundreds of votes should go for years without new feedback. Even if you can't give us the requested feature/change (yet) Be present and part of the discussion! Ask questions! Acknowledge the problems Excel is causing people, even if you don't have a solution yet or if you believe the use case to be limited to a small subset of Excel users or if you believe the need should be addressed by a different product...
... and if you don't value the feedback form your users, close this site. Don't keep us in expectation, giving us hope and than ignoring us.
You're poisoning your own brand.
This sentiment is expresses in many suggestion threads and even some suggestions titles, but unlike the other related "ideas" I've seen, I've been careful of keeping any one "Excel feature suggestion" out of it. This suggestion is about UserVoice for Excel.
