Add ability to use cell references or formulas in all chart format options
When creating a number of related charts, it's often useful to set the minima and maxima of the chart axes to the same values on all charts. Currently, if the min/max you wish to show changes because cell values change, this involves clicking each chart and changing the values in the axis options individually. This is tedious and prone to error when large numbers of charts are involved.
It would be advantageous to be able to tie these axis properties to cell values (or even to define a formula for them). That way, a user could update a single value and all charts linked to that cell would re-scale together.
In a project I'm working on right now I'm using macros to automatically change axis extents when certain events occur, but it's a bit of a kludge that I'd like to avoid if it were possible to do so.
Truth be told, a great many, if not all, of the format options would benefit from being linkable to cells (series line colors and weights, for another example). But I think axis extents would see the most benefit from such a feature.
Series titles can already be linked to cells, and chart titles can be controlled with formulas; why not give that kind of flexibility to all chart features? Particularly those that are already numeric in nature?
