Add number format for thousandth (K$) or millions (M$)
Could you please add the number format K for thousandth and M for millions (like 5.8 K instead of 5812)
It would be very helpful.

Bill Jelen below, is right. Easy trick : first format in the cell in the currency of your choice, e.g.:
1. (ctrl+1) Format cells > Number > Currency pick negative red; OK
2. (ctrl+1) Format cells > Custom and add whatever you like, e.g.
Would be helpful if you could easily format both positive and negative numbers in this manner
All the SI prefix values would be immensely helpful - k,M,G,T,Y going up, m,n,p,micro,f going down, for example.
or even add dropdown next to the existing thousand separator icon. Like the one in the attached file. :)
Although we may do it in Custom format, and it is quite easy for those who know how... it is not the case for most users...
Why am I saying this? coz I didn't expect one of my blog post has become one of the top 3 posts in my blog:
Simply put, if we can add the option for most user via UI (like the one attached, it would be super helpful.

This feature would be amazing, my boss would love this and it would save me a heap of time reformatting figures for reports.

If your setting is the comma for the decimal, (and not the period) you must replace the , by space.
But you can only write 3 rules so it's not possible to manage all the combination with the positive and negative values
