Filtering Needs to Work in Co-Authoring
Say that several people are editing the same workbook. If Tom filters to show only his records, then the other people will only see Tom's records. We need to be able to have each person apply a different filter and see only their records.
Note that it is fine to require that the workbook can not have SUBTOTAL or AGGREGATE functions in order for independent filtering to work. If you allow these functions, then everyone will have different calculation results which would be problematic.
It is more important to us to be able to have each person apply a local filter than to have the rare AGGREGATE function work correctly.
Hi folks, great news!
Sheet View is now available in the production ring of our monthly channel.
You can see it in the following builds and newer:
In our workplace we have a lot of people working in the same excel sheet and we need to be able to make custom filter/views so that each person can filter and see what they need to see without affecting all others working in the same sheet.
Yes please! Multi-user filtering please!!!!
this is critically important. you said back in March you are working on it but it's still not available. can we have an update on when to expect this?
This is crazy it doesn't exist as part of co-authoring! A key part of collaboration...is filtering and sorting. Google have it and it's called 'Filter Views'
And make sure this works for Mac as well please
same comments as everyone else. When a solution is implemented I hope it will also include the simpler show/hide columns and rows features in addition to the filtering. thanks

There's a bigger thread on this for excel online. I want to say, this also need to happen for the desktop versions. It can't be just for Excel Online.
I can see two potential work arounds for this, neither of them pretty:
1. You use a pivot table on the data which will give you view only view of the data
2. You break the bigger data set into individual user data sets and then recompile it back together with a Power Query.

We have the same need - we have 6 people working on the sheet and over 4,000 rows and a tight deadline. with out separate filtering co-authoring doesn't help us.
Please let us know when is the release date for filter function for excel online. Such a pain to update without filter for over 1000 rows!
Hi microsoft team
Could you please let us know by when this functionality be released , for excel online
Thanks in advance !
Hi - when filtering in excel (Co-authored sheet), my team can see my filters and removes their own filters - v frustrating! is there a way to only have your own personal view whilst co-authoring?
I makes sorting columns an absolute nightmare as they keep changing every time someone changes the filter in another column...........
Yeah! Big challenge with having shared excel sheets where people can't view the document individually. Our work around is creating separate sheets using the "Get & Transform Data From Table/Range" feature of excel, which gives us read only filterable views for individual people (One Sheet per Person). Still have massive head aches in updating the data and helping people get to the data they want to update.

My team desperately needs this feature to maximize our productivity!

This is a must have for co-authorizing. Individual filtering is causing confusions with users.

Thanks for the update, Scott. This is one of the crucial missing features that has kept my team from transitioning from Googlesheets to Excel Online.
When Microsoft !?
Urgently need this. Please update us with how long this is going to take.
there is a similar vote on this thread here, FYI:
