The new "Auto-Save" function is a good idea but there should be an option for the user to set the default. I would prefer that it is defaulted to OFF.
I often do what ifs that I dont want to save and having to remember to turn it off each time is a pain.
Additionally, it updates the time stamp of when it was last saved. This is also misleading if you just open a file to look at and later you think the file was modified from the last time you actually changed anything.
I would suggest to change the default to "OFF" and let the user decide to turn it on. It is a little like the old chestnut of having the default choice of yes/No and yes automatically ticked.
Auto save completely destroys the user's ability to try something in a file, save it if they like it, or discard it if they don't. Auto save makes the assumption that content creation is a linear process. It's not. Please keep auto save OFF by default.
Yes the time stamp changing is a deal breaker for us, and our users are not accustomed to working with office documents like this. Making this default to On is a major miscalculation.
Please implement better administrative controls to provide the ability for admins to disable this entirely
