Enable Headers and Footers to include variables based on a cell reference
It would be great if a cell reference could be used within a header and/or footer

Thanks for taking the time to share this suggestion with us. We unfortunately won’t be able to address it in the near future – we’ll keep tracking the votes, though.

That would be so nice to have this feature.

I agree with Malcom's suggestion. The only other item I would add is that page numbering should be set based on the defined print area, not on the number of pages used to encapsulate all of the used cells in the worksheet. I have many cells outside the print area that help to add functionality to the worksheet. Even though they are outside the defined print area, they get included in the page numbering so instead of 2 pages in my footer, it will read Page 1 of 3, or Page 1 of 4.

Hi, there are a number of functional issues with Headers/Footers. I have taken the liberty to roll them all up so that we can get a combined much bigger vote and thus action. To transfer your votes here, can you please follow the link below and vote on that combined idea? Many thanks

Malcolm's suggestion is spot on for me. Lotus 1-2-3 release 2.01 of 1982 or so used to do it :)

It seems to me that most of the suggestions raised about headers and footers would be resolved if headers and footers were simply special cells within the wooksheet or could be linked to specific cells in a such a way as they not only took their values but all their formatting from those cells. Then all the functionality available in normal cells (including dynamic values, conditional formatting, use of all excel functions) would be available in headers and footers without having to write separate code.

We've needed this for decades now. Lotus 1-2-3 used to have it.
