Fix protection issue.
Currently stumbled upon a way to unprotect a workbook without the use of the usually required password. I am currently using Excel 2013 for reference.
I had a file that was password protected for which I did not have the password. After a quick google search I found that if you save the file as a 97-2003 version that you can then go and just push the "Unprotect" button and you will not need to use the password.
After this you can resave the file to your desired excel version and it will be unlocked for your use.
While this did benefit me personally in this situation, I create files for others to use that have protection and would not like for them to take this work around to be able to manipulate the files.
I see this as an inherent risk and issue with the protection of excel workbooks that needs to be corrected.

Wow. I didn't believe you at first. I just tried it and it worked. I'm not really sure how they can resolve this though, without creating a new file type that can't be downgraded to .xls
