Autorepared range of conditional formating
If you build/change a sheet with conditionals formatings and must copy/paste cells, the ranges of conditionals formatings become long, too long and incomprehensibles.
Often the long chain may be simplify and easy to understand.
Auto simplify function isn't possible ?
A VBA code ?
To my knowledge the only, the only reliable way currently is to enable macros, and use VBA to code the conditionnal formating rules, (clearing the whole lot and recreating them from the VBA code either on opening, saving or other event)
but enabling VBA isn't always an option!!!!
the ony other way I found was to put giant warnings on top of the sheets about only ever using paste value (and explaining how to do it) and harassing users regularly about it.... but I still have to recreate the sheet regularly (I do keep a clean empty sheet on hand... but every single time I worry about creating errors in the data

True. What I've been doing to get around this is to manually update the multiple sub-ranges that appear when you cut and paste cells back to being a single full range. Excel should be "smart enough" to do this on its own.
