Bring back the menu instead of the ribbon
The ribbon is awful and requires a bunch of re-learning every time we upgrade versions. I want the menus from excel 97-2003 back, if only as an option for "power users"
The ribbon is a cross-Office, cross-Microsoft, and now cross-industry paradigm for UI. At this point we will not be switching out the ribbon in Excel for menus/toolbars.

Well, thanks for nothing ******** – Ribbon sucks ***.
new ui sucks
Its is not just a matter of familiarity. The old style menus were a more efficient use of screen space. Also, I could customize them, choose my own icons, and make my own drop down menus that were there only when I needed them, gone when I didn't. I can guarantee you that many folks who are holding on to Office 2003 would upgrade in a heartbeat if classic menus where offered.
It's still terrible UI and you should definitely consider this. The ribbon is very poor UI and wastes a lot of space.

FTHOI, if you're willing to use an Open event handler in PERSONAL.XLSB (my preference for file type), you could recreate the Excel 2003 worksheet menu command bar. Add Menu Commands to your QAT, and the recreated menu command bar will appear in it.
We need some choice in the market place. The menu ribbon is so awkward to use compared to the drop down menu.

The ribbon just doesn't do it for me buddy. It slows me down and I have to work too many hours into the evening. I need the speed that Excel once offered. It would be nice to have more personal time away from the screen.

It just takes some getting used to the Ribbon. It's not inherently worse than the menu layout.
I used to hate the Ribbon just because I didn't know where anything was anymore, but taking familiarity out of the equation, I like the Ribbon better.
I am an accountant who wants as much space to work without clutter and speed to work. The drop down menu and short cuts worked far better than the ribbons. My favourite version was XP and I miss it. Can we please have the option to present Excel in this classic style. I worked so much faster than I can today. Other accountants I work with agree and we use excel throughout the day in our work.
