How can we improve Excel for Windows (Desktop Application)?

Case Sensitive Date Format Rules

I wish the cell formatting rules for dates were case sensitive. For example, the rule "MMM" outputs "Jan" instead of "JAN"

If you are not doing date/numeric operations on your dates, then you could use the UPPER(TEXT(your date,"mmm")) in a new column. However, I still think that your suggestion is good.

Zack, I am talking about having a date value (say 1/1/2015) and using a custom format rule to make it visual appear as JAN. Aren't Custom Lists just text values?

I do this all the time so I can easily pull specific months based on the date value.
