Make vertical alignment default to top of cell
If any column has text wrapping applied, top of cell formatting makes data much easier to read, both on screen and printed version (especially if there are no borders)

Wasted an hour trying to do the trick with book.xltx in autostart folder in vain.
If this isn't possible - there is a separate suggestion to allow users to define a default alignment for a worksheet. Please consider this instead so that the millions of people who aren't actually accountants can use spreadsheets in a sensible way
Agree - this is a continuous source of frustration. There is no logic to having bottom align as the default - design professionals who layout tables (words or numbers) would never choose bottom alignment.

I am continually frustrated with having to change this setting on every worksheet I create and would love it to be a default - regardless of whether there is text wrapping or not.
