Record notes on a Pivot Table that transfer back to the source data
My team frequently adds notes in the first column to the right of pivot tables to document actions taken on that particular line item. If the data is sorted or filtered, those notes are lost. I would love the ability to add a blank "Notes" field to a Pivot Table, and have whatever is inputted in that column transfer back to the source data.
That's an interesting idea. On my side, I made a macro to update source data from the pivot table. It works but I'm not sure it's fully reliable.

There is a slight problem with this. If you have multiple columns of values in your PivotTable, then the note becomes attached to at least 2 source values. Then where does it get stored? Is it repeated in the source table? One work around would be to create a new table with every row heading that your table has and put the notes in there. Then use VLOOKUP or INDEX-MATCH to look up your notes and display them beside your PivotTable.
