Unselecting cells when using Ctrl to select multiple cells
When using Ctrl to select multiple cells, we can't unselect a cell when it was misclicked. Instead, we have to click these cells all over again. Please allow us to unselect cells!

We have completed the work and it is now available in our Insiders builds and will roll into production soon for our Office 365 users on PC and mac.

Is there no fix for this on Excel 2016? My new workplace is based on this and it is becoming increasingly frustrating when dealing with volumes of data.

Can we copy values from non adjacent cells (same row but another sheet) to adjacent cells in another sheet with help of some formula?

This was fixed over a year ago @linda for Office 365 users.

I hope you get this fixed soon - for some reason the program, clicks (selects) some assets on its own. We have tried everything from taking our hands off every single time and clicking one by one and sometimes it still just clicks a few above or below it. And, since we can't unselect a cell, we have to start over. Please fix!!!

Should this also be supported in the name box? At least if the range is completely within selection? Currently it seems like its still additive. i.e. type a range in the name box and press ctrl+enter (or be in 'Add or Remove Selection' mode and just press enter)

After using this for a few weeks in Insider, it works great. Have seen no issues or ill side effects.

I am happy to learn this has been addressed; I miss-click frequently and this has long been one of the thousand paper cuts that killed my will to work productively with Excel.

According to https://support.office.com/en-us/article/Update-history-for-Office-Insider-for-Windows-desktop-64bbb317-972a-4933-8b82-cc866f0b067c?ui=en-US&rs=en-US&ad=US this has been added to the Insider build. Just waiting for it to download.

I run into this a lot and have had to reduce my ctrl click so as to avoid having to redo the list if I misclick one. Thanks.

This is a no brainer. I think just about everyone has run into this issue at some point.

I wrote a post about this with something of a solution: http://yoursumbuddy.com/undo-selections-selectracker/

Yes. This is fine normally, but when you have worked your way down a massive list and just get one little slip the other side of a cell border, it can render the whole operation (usually a paste) useless or destructive. This would be a very welcome addition. I also feel your pain.

Does the 'Easy Select' button in FormulaDesk work as you'd like? If os, maybe this feature should be used by the Excel team as inspiration! When you turn the 'Easy Select' button 'on', then you don't need to hold down CTRL while you select multiple cells, and you can also deselect cells by clicking them. http://www.formuladesk.com
