  1. Function to protect the entire workbook from edit/save but not from editing only.

    This function would allow you to edit/sort/compute/highlight anything normally but would prevent you from accidentally saving (or autosaving) unless you specifically disabled the function first.

  2. Make Table Name Box Resizable

    It is helpful to be able to see and rename a table in the Table Design tab. But the Table Name box shows only about 12 characters.

    Why not add a small arrow in the right corner of the Table Name section, and when clicked, show the Table Properties in a larger and more readable (and resizable) form?

  4. Breaking change in Selection.Group

    Hi,

    with the last update as of 08/12/2019 you apparently rolled out a breaking change in the naming convention of generated group fields in pivot tables.

    Here a macro fragment that throws now an exception 1004, "Unable to get the PivotFields property of the PivotTable class"

  5. move rows

    Make moving rows more like Google Sheets. It is a lot easier in Sheets. I can click and hold the row and move it to another spot between 2 others.

  6. Option to Choose Pivot Field at Source Filtered Data

    At source Data table, In case of large data set, If a user decide or visualise and select which fields should be used to generate pivot table + the result of that field !! - Currently there is no option, I suggest to have this tab to be added at source database filter itself, At Advance Tab named as "Advance PT Source Field Chooser" further Pivot should use only those field as source to generate Report Result, which will reduce the file size or provide Expand,Collapse result, each selected field should be displayed with column Serial no and…

  7. error message pivot table field name is not valid

    Please identify WHICH pivot table is causing the problem. when you have a spreadsheet with many many pivots on many tables, this error means that you have to manually search each pivot table until you find the one (or more) that is causing the problem. in fact, because pivot tables based on tables can get messed up if you delete table columns, even if you figure out which data set is causing the problem, you still have to manually adjust (change data) for each one of the pivots based on the table.   8. Without Question, the #1 Problem in Excel is deleting unused rows at the bottom

    Just allow us to bring up a window and select the row number to start deleting all the way to the bottom. When you copy to columns, 1.04 million rows get created. And it literally takes HOURS at the fastest scrolling (25% view) to get rid of these. Look in the searches lots and lots of people complain about this.

    Please provide a user option to use Edit Mode by default instead of Navigation/Point Mode when editing cell contents and formulas. This should apply to any place where cell contents, formulas, and paths are entered, such as cells, formula bar, conditional formatting formulas, pivot-table location/path, pivot-table wizard, named range manager, etc. When editing such contents, I never need navigation/point mode and always have to switch (F2) to edit mode. If I forget to switch (because point mode is so non-intuitive), I have to undo or just start over.

  10. Remove or make optional your "Copy of" when saving my excel worksheet.

    Make the Copy of function an option not a no choice in the renaming of my file every time I save my file. Also, when opening excel for the first time, make it an option to open on a blank workbook. Excel 2019 is a disaster with these not made as options and a waste of my time having to work around them.

  13. Paste Match destination option greyed out in excel 2016 , but avilable in excel 2010

    Paste match destination option is available in excel 2010 and not in 2016 . This option had been greyed out in excel 2016 . Due to lack of this option, the data can't be copied from one excel workbook to another workbook in the required format as the instances created are distinct. ( i.e. The numbers are copied in "text format" rather than number format.) Paste destination option can eliminate the above issue and get the date copied in the required format by the user.

  15. Excel - Improve Excel file corruption detection

    We have a corruption on a specific Excel file. This corruption very significantly reduced Excel performances. Unfortunately, Excel did not automatically detect the corruption while opening the file. We have to manually remove "custom views" for the Excel file, and re-open it to allow Excel detecting the corruption and repairing it. It is a pity that Excel cannot detect the corruption by himself, if we did not perform the trick of removing custom views. I am reproducing the issue with last version of Excel.
    My request is to improve the corruption detection, so this kind of corruption can be detected.…

  18. Auto-freeze panes when selecting data filter

    For simple worksheets I do the same thing over and over. Create a table header that is filtered, panes frozen and text formatted differently from data (bolded, highlighted, etc). Should be a simple formatter to do this. Have a default setting for text format. Users highlight cells and select option or a paint brush to paint the cells.

  19. Allow grouping of tabs in Excel

    Have an option in Excel to allow for grouping of tabs into sub-groups, and have them stack behind the main tab. clicking on the main would allow you to expand or collapse it's sub tabs. You could also promote a sub tab to main.

  20. Have Excel identify where links are in a worksheet

    In the Data menu, you can edit links but you can't identify what cell or cells they are in. There should be an option to identify what cells have links, either by a format or listing them.
