Colour between lines on chart
This is typically appropriate between a min and max on the same data-set, so as to show the range in which values occur.
Another use-case is to draw a phase diagram: https://stevengoddard.files.wordpress.com/2010/09/water-phase-diagram1.jpg?w=450&h=420&h=420
There's a workaround to do this for standard charts here, though it's tremendously cumbersome: http://peltiertech.com/fill-under-between-series-in-excel-chart/
It produces a chart looking like this:
http://peltiertech.com/images/2013-09/OverlapCharts.pngI'm more interested in this for PivotCharts where we often look at min, mean, max lines for data together. It would be great to be able to shade or colour between them.
PS: Even to make a min line and max line of the same…

Adding a scroll bar as a default option in excel charts
It appears when the range of data in a chart is huge, providing a scrollbar can be a handy option to scroll through big data in a user friendly way (without going through sizing -resizing again). If you can provide this option with charts (and thus in VBAs), it will be a handy feature to work with !
Cheers, Pramod3 votesThanks for the feedback and further clarification. We are currently exploring a number of interactive features like this. We’ll keep this one in mind during our planning process. Please continue to vote on this feature idea.

MODE function work for text
Could you make the MODE function work for text?
Currently you have to do a crazy index and lookup thing, which could all be made so much easier if mode worked for text. i.e., if you have MODE("a", "b", "c", "a") you would get "a".7 votesInteresting idea – thanks for the suggestion Tomiam8. We’ll consider this and prioritize by vote, so please keep voting if you want to see the priority raised!

Automatic labeling for scatterplots
Please provide a way to add labels automatically to scatterplots. It would be great if you could add a third dimension of data that would be text labels for scatterplots.
9 votesThanks for the suggestion. We are looking at ways to do this labeling automatically.
In the meantime, we did provide a way to do this in Excel 2013 but it requires a few steps.
1) Turn on “Data Labels” for your scatter chart
2) Open the “Label Options” in the task pane. This can be done by double clicking on one of the data labels.
3) Check the box called “Value From Cells”. Then select the range that contains the labels for each data point.
4) Turn off the other extraneous labels in your data label from the “Label Options” task pane. Please give this a try and continue to vote on this feature request (e.g. automatic labeling) which will increase its likelihood of getting into the product.

Add a 'Series Description' option when creating a series for a chart.
Add a 'series description' option when creating a series. Then when adding the legend you can select to use the series name or series description as the legend. Would be useful when using data labels that need the series name shortening in some graphs - the legend then acts as a key

Chart Feature: Dynamic Legends
Instead of fixed legends, please allow the user to create a dynamic legend, so that if there are no values for a particular category, the legend does not show up for that category.

Total least square fitting on graphs & Deming regression in line-of-best-fit functions
Least squares fitting only minimizes the error in dependent variables. The error in the independent variables is ignored.
For the graphing of any data obtained by measurement, such as in science, we should consider the error in all variables, and so we should have an option to plot curves of best fit based on total least squares fitting.
It would also be nice to have an option to specify Deming regression in some of the line-of-best-fit-related functions such as SLOPE, INTERCEPT, FORECAST, LINEST, TREND, PEARSON, and RSQ.

Animation in Excel Charts just like PPTs
In corporate world generally powerpoint presentations are used because they give option of animations.
in excel it is possible to do with VBA (to some extent) but still its very hard.
If it could be made possible to give animations in Charts/ areas (A1:G7) / Name ranges, it would be very useful for presenting data.
thanks for the forum. its really great. :)

Custom tool tips for charts
I would like to have custom tool tips for a chart. I have hidden the x axis labels and added some data labels and would like the tool top to display the data label text instead of the x axis label text. I have exported the chart from a vb.net winform app but have been told that this currently isn't possible and advised to post on here!

Cannot open files saved after assigning graph series values names that use structured references
Since graphs series cannot contain formulas, if you want to make a graph dynamic, you must use a name (in the Name Manager sense) that contains a formula that determines the dynamic range.
However, if that name uses structured references, then when you save and reopen the file, Excel will crash and the workbook will be unusable to Excel.
To see what I mean, download this workbook:
http://www.mediafire.com/view/a2681miflhdjxep/Graph_Crash.xlsb
Right-click on the graph and go Select Data. Edit Series1 and change its series values to read "=s!y" (without quotes). Save, close, reopen, crash.4 votesWe’ll check into this crashing issue. The following bug number is tracking this issue: 2762327.

List all charts and their series in a Task Pane with quick search for easier navigation
Big Excel files with lots of sheets are hard to navigate. Excel could do with a tree view task pane with a search box showing each charts' sheet name, its title and the series it contains. Then you could click on a series and go directly to that chart. Maybe it could also show (if so chosen by the user) a thumbnail of each chart. It doesn't need to be a live rendering of the chart to be useful. Right clicking on each series would also reveal a menu with options like: go to the X values range, go to…

Insert an image directly from a scanner
In order to insert an image from hardcopy material it is necessary to scan the material to a graphic file and then insert the graphic. It would save time and effort to insert an image directly from a scanner. For example, I scan invoices and cash register receipts from individuals to insert into a voucher for authorization to cut a check for reimbursement to the individual.

Enable Vari-wide / MariMekko charts
Hi, I use Vari-wide or Marimekko charts quite frequently and find this to be a major pain in Excel. There are ways to work this in using Area charts and additional rows and formulas for formatting, but it takes a while. Further, it often doesn't allow a linear chart based on my values unless I change the axis to dates, and cheat the formatting to show non date numbers...
It would be great if this could be built in, or at least be made easier (by not having to change the x-axis to dates)

Make it possible to select the chart x-axis to auto align or always align to zero or always zoom only on the data somewhere in the y axis.

Ability to select data on 3D Map by dragging over an area
Once data is charted on map drag the mouse over an area to select just the results in that area. Would be useful for CRM marketing campaigns etc.

I have to create a semi average regression line my school project . I have no idea how to create one on my own. Could you please put this line as one of the trendlines on excel?
