Update: Microsoft will be moving away from UserVoice sites on a product-by-product basis throughout the 2021 calendar year. We will leverage 1st party solutions for customer feedback. Learn more

Welcome to the Excel for Windows (Desktop Application) feedback forum! This is the place for users to send us suggestions and ideas on how to improve. If you think you have found a bug, please send us feedback in-app instead! To do so, please click “File”, then “Feedback”, then “Send a Frown” in Excel. This way, we will get detailed information that will help us better diagnose the problem.

To help us build the best version of Excel ever, we have partnered with UserVoice, a third-party service, to create this site to hear your suggestions and ideas for the next version of Excel. Your use of the portal and your submission is subject to the UserVoice Terms of Service & Privacy Policy, including the license terms. Please do not send any novel or patentable ideas, copyrighted materials, samples or demos for which you do not want to grant a license to Microsoft.

  1. Delete a line in a table without sizing down the table

    I use a table a lot, and often I delete lines as I complete the task. However, when I "delete line" of the table, the table gets shorter (1 line shorter). It is Ok for the lines under it to go up, but I always end up with a short table that I have to manually extend if I want to stay inside of it. So I want the frame of the table to remain the same size, even if the lines go up (so, creating another empty line at the bottom of the table could be an option)

  3. Fire All the Developers, Especially the One in Charge of Improvements

    Numerous requests to fix the removal of preceding zeroes in cells, and fixing the scientific notation bug, and nothing has been done even though they have claimed to started working on these issues 3 years ago. It's time to clean house and bring in a team that actually wants to do their job.

  4. Add FLATTEN() function

    Background

    Quite often you need to transform a list of horizontal and vertical ranges into 1 single column of stacked values.

    1. In A1:A3 put 1, 2, 3 respectively.

    2. In B4:B6 put Hello, World, Microsoft respectively.

    3. In order to get a single column of those 2 range you need to use these crazy formulas like described here, for example: https://www.extendoffice.com/documents/excel/2775-excel-convert-matrix-to-single-column.html
      https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q9NjdogVBo8
      https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4qZ8ud8akus

    4. If you put any of those formulas from videos in C1 cell result should like that:
      C1 = 1
      C2 = 2
      C3 = 3
      C4 = Hello
      C5 = World
      C6 = Microsoft.

    Problem

    The problem is that…

  7. Convert MBOX to PST

    If you're looking for a method that can perfectly convert MBOX files to Outlook PST, look no further. I suggest using the SysInspire "MBOX to PST Converter" app, which can also convert your MBOX file to PDF, HTML, and PST. Data from MBOX mailboxes can also be migrated to Gmail, Yahoo, Thunderbird, Outlook, Zimbra, and IMAP using this tool. With just a few clicks, you can convert several MBOX files.

  8. office scripts

    Hi Team,

    I would like to suggest making the scripting functionality available to the Microsoft 365 Family Subscription. I would love to be able to automate Excel tasks in a more modern built-in scripting environment. I'm sure I'm not the only one.

  9. Fix bug where the Related Dates under Info is wrong when the document is created either on desctop och in a folder

    When an excel-document is created either in a folder or on the desktop by using using right mouse click then New Microsoft Excel Sheet, then the date is wrong. Not only in my Excel in others too. Serious problem when satisfying version history relating to certain quality standards such as ISO 27001

  11. Money in Excel Capital One

    Without being able to get my Capital One data in Money in Excel I can only get a small fraction of my finances. Either work with a data aggregator that plays nice with Capital One (not Plaid) or allow me to import my data manually.

    Hello,

    Thank you for your valuable feedback. Currently Money in Excel doesn’t support Capitol One accounts. We’ve shared your feedback to the apt team for review.

    Thank you for using Money in Excel!

  12. Allow "Custom Sorts" that you create to be saved so you can reuse without rebuilding each time

    On the Home tab, in the Editing group, click the Sort & Filter list and choose Custom Sort. Once you build a Custom Sort, allow it to be saved so that it can be reused.

  13. Allow Excel Worksheet tabs to be aligned diagonally or vertically.

    I am designing worksheets with multiple tabs for users pensioners unfamiliar with Excel at anything more than a basic level. Allowing worksheet tabs to be displayed vertically or diagonally would make the spreadsheet user friendly avoiding oversight of worksheets not visible on the ribbon.

  14. Add the ability to paste pictures directly into a cell

    It would be very helpful to have the ability to paste an image directly into a cell in an Excel file. And then within that cell you can still resize the image so that your row/column isn't a crazy size. That way when rows or columns are grouped together & collapsed then the image would also collapse with the designated cell.

    I work for an interior design firm and my company uses Excel for all of our Furniture, lighting, Art & accessory procurement. We need to include images in these documents to send to clients, trades and for installs. When…

  15. Have the ability to change the input cell format in Excel

    Writing this for the second time: the feint green cell input colour and border thickness is far to difficult to see when moving around and sorting spreadsheets. Notice that all your MS Excel Training videos have a great, black coloured thick, very obvious input box - need to have the ability to change this in defaults or wherever...see attached

  16. Seperate "Enable fill handle and cell drag-and-drop" & "double-click on cell border" features

    Currently, the "Enable fill handle and cell drag-and-drop" feature and the double-click on cell border feature are tethered together.
    I would like to disable one feature, but keep the other feature enabled.

    I would like to have to "Fill handle and cell drop-and-drop" feature enabled, but disable the double-click on cell border feature, as this often causes me to unintentionally jump across the spreadsheet which can be quite frustrating.

  17. A number format that lets you put zeros at the beginning of a number reference, like 00794411 for example.

    Many utilities have zeros in front of the meter or company references(00794411), when paying invoices or bills, that have to be included to pay them and when corresponding with the utility companies, as it's not valid to them if the zeros aren't there. So there should be an option in the number formatting section for reference numbers including zeros in front, where it doesn't take away zeros in front of the reference, but lets you put as many zeros in front of it as you like.

  18. Date Picker Add-In

    This is an old request for the date picker since Microsoft removed the feature. I have copied an admin response and request for votes starting from 2016.
    How is it possible after 5 years there has not been any advancement on this?

    With the amount of people that utilize Excel, you are not supporting your customer's needs.
    Please get your coders to rectify this as soon as possible. This delay is not acceptable by any means.

    Add 'date picker' to enable users to select a date from a mini calendar into cells

  19. Add Office Scripts to the native Excel Application

    I understand getting full blown VBA working on the web is extremely unlikely (impossible?).

    So - make Office Scripts run on native Excel (and other Office apps). That way we get

    1) One common development language across all Microsoft Office applications

    2) Support for Javascript/Typescript in native Office.

    Thank you for sending Microsoft feedback. Your input is valuable to us and helps improve our products.

    Office native platforms already supports JavaScript/TypeScript for the add-in (extensions) model. The built-in Office Scripts/automation is not yet supported.

    We do intend to support Office Scripts across other platforms and hosts. However, the priority and schedules for such expansion in coverage is not yet finalized. We are right now focussed on delivering it for Online platform with Power Automation support. Please stay tuned for future announcements to learn about the coverage.

    Thanks,
    Sudhi

  20. Disable double click border jump cells

    Please provide update for Office 365 Pro Plus, and the Double Click Border Jump Cell function is disabled without turning Off the Drag & Drop feature.
    Please send the update for installer to the email provided.
