  1. Number format thousand separator and no decimals

Every time (many days a year) I train people in Excel, someone ask why there is no button or shortcut to obtain a number format with "thousand separator and no decimals". At least - in northern Europe - this is the most common used number format. If "button-solution" not possible for Microsoft in order to have common buttons world-wide, at least a shortcut for this has been much appreciated. (Note that the current button for thousand separator and two decimals could not be used, though the alignment in that format are not disired/good and two decimals used).

    • Add a Reporting Ribbon to Excel to consolidate and highlight the amazing capabilities of Power Query and Power Pivot

Tables, Power Query, Power Pivot and Pivot Tables are amazing tools that will transform the way people build their reports, but only once they know about them!

Let's SHOUT about how good these things are and how well they work together by putting them onto a single new Ribbon called "Reporting" - something like the attached image.

      • Pull Current Stock Prices and Historical Data Into Excel

Now that our ability to use Yahoo! Finance's API to pull in stock information via the WEBSERVICE() function and import historical information is officially dead (thanks Verizon!), the only viable option currently is to use Google sheets to pull in stock information.

It would be awesome if Excel could import data from MSN Money so us users can continue to use spreadsheets to monitor our portfolios.

Progress! As of this morning, we’ve begun enabling the first iteration of Excel’s new data types for a percentage of Office Insiders, including the ability to pull and refresh live stock quotes (and other financial data) straight in to Excel! We’ll be increasing the percentage of Insiders with access to the feature over the coming days and weeks, so if you don’t see it right away please hang in there!*

We acknowledge that right now this is only half of the suggestion (pull current stock prices), but historical data is in our sights and we’re planning to add this and many other improvements to stock and financial data. Your feedback thus far has been immensely valuable in helping us plan and design this work, and we look forward to your continued suggestions for how we can improve to better meet your needs

Again, we genuinely appreciate your involvement as we…

        • Better Support for Analysis Services Tabular

It's about time to improve support for SSAS Tabular:
          1. Auto-generate DAX
          2. Avoid splitting a table into a "measure group" and "dimension". See how PBI Desktop handles metadata.
          3. Carry over data types so that users can create reports, such as show me invoices where Due Date is greater than ... Currently, all dimension table fields map to Text.
          4. Many customers have expressed interest to connect Excel tables directly to Tabular, bypassing Pivot Table, so they can use the column dropdowns and other Excel goodness.
          5. Support descriptions as tooltips when the user hovers on a field in…

          • Show Tables in Power Query when opening an xlsb file

When using Power Query / Get Data to open .xlsx files and .xlsm files, the Tables present in those files are shown in a list.
When opening a .xlsb file only Sheets are shown and not any of the Tables present within the file.

If there is only one table on a sheet, AND it starts in cell A1, then it is relatively easy to still load the data, but where there are multiple tables per sheet, OR the tables don't start in A1, then there is a lot of unnecessary work deleting Rows and or Columns to obtain your…

Ao copiar dados de uma coluna com vários dados repetidos.
Como temos a opção com o botão direito do mouse de Colar Especial > Valores, poderia ter uma opção de Colar Especial > Valores Únicos.

              • Add Get Parameter button to Power Query and avoid Privacy / Formula.Firewall problems

It's fantastic that you can pick up named ranges in Excel and pass them to Power Query as parameters. However the process is cumbersome and often results in Formula.Firewall warnings or other issues.

This leads to having to switch Privacy Levels to "Ignore" or having to write a query within a query rather than nice and clean "parameter" queries.

It would really simplify things if we could quickly create parameter queries (including a drop down to select parameter type) and that these queries would be immune from the Privacy warnings.

                • Option to show list of sheets sorted by name. Today it's only sorted by index.

Option to show list of sheets sorted by name. Today it's only sorted by index.
                  In English:
Option to show list of sheets sorted by name. Today it's only sorted by index.
When we right click on the navigation arrows (bottom left corner of Excel), Excel shows us a list of the worksheets sorted by index/position in the workbook.

Suggestion: add a checkbox or a combobox to that dialog box, with a couple more options, like the attached image:
                  Index Asc
                  Index Desc
                  A to Z
                  Z to A

                  • Excel 2016 - Screentip Placement

Would it be possible to update the screentip placement back to the right-side of the pointer in future updates of Excel?

I noticed that in Excel 2016, when highlighting columns (for vlookups, for instance) the screentip displays on the far left side of the program (if you start highlighting in column A). Whereas, in previous versions of Excel, the screentip always displayed to the right of the pointer.

The new popup location on the left causes the screentip to display on a completely different screen than the current Excel instance if you have an extended display located to the left…

                    • Add short month name and short day name in Power Query

In Power Query, you can convert a date in year, month, day, first day of the month, day of the week, .... You can also convert a date in month name or in day name.

But there is no option to convert a date with the short name (Jan, Feb, Mar, ...) and the same for the day (Mon, Tue, Wed, ...)

Is it possible to add these options on the ribbon?

                      • Resize Table by double-click

Something, you have to resize the area of your table when you manually import or delete data in a Table.

Currently, you have 2 options to resize your Table:
                        - With the button Resize Table
                        - By drag and drop of the delimiter of the Table (it looks like a triangle) to adjust to the size of the data

My idea is to double-click on this Table delimiter to adjust automatically to the area of the data (rows and columns). This means that the table would automatically extend or contract to include new data or exclude empty rows/columns.

                        What do…

                        • Add Center Across Selection to the Merge & Center Drop-down

Do you hate Merged Cells? Do you believe Merged Cells are evil? Do you curse every time your selection rectangle goes from one column to five columns just because you touched a merged cell? Do you constantly get workbooks from co-workers who continue to merge cells? Tired of not being able to Sort or Paste because someone merged a cell?

Excel encourages people to use Merge & Center by offering it front-and-center on the Home tab. Thus, few people discover the (superior) Center Across Selection option on the Alignment tab of the Format Cells dialog.

                          Currently, the Merge & Center…

                          • Excel Misinterpreting CSV as SYLK file.

When opening a CSV file in Excel where the first field is "ID", Excel gives a dialog saying the extension does not match the file type (Excel assuming the file type to be SYLK). I have had to make a change to my codebase to change "ID" to "_ID" specifically for users who utilize Excel. I would appreciate a fix ASAP.

Custom Data Connectors mechanism is being developed by Power BI Desktop team:

Excel's Get & Transform engine (Power Query) should have support for *.mez/*.pqx extensions too.

Having used the newfangled Queries and Connections pane for some time now I find it is time to add some suggestions

                                My issues:

                                1. The pane does not remember its size
It opens really narrow on my system, displaying only a (very) small part of the connection and query names so my first action every friggin time is to drag it wider.

                                2. No multi select
in the old connections window you can control or shift-click multiple connections to delete them. For maintenance this is a very useful feature I miss regularly.

                                3. It isn't application-centric
                                If I open a…

Large formulas become very confusing. It would be nice if there is a formula editor that inserts, coloring and evaluates the formulas like Visual Studio and that can also be provided with comments and other hints. These formulas must then be displayed in the editor in exactly the same way.

                                  • What version of Excel am I using?

I use different versions of Excel when working at home, at the office or at client's workplaces.
I would just like to know, quickly, what version of Excel I am working on. This used to be under the Help Menu in a pop-up dialogue box called "About", if my memory serves me. But I cannot find this in the latest version I have at home (part of Office 365), so I don't actually know which version I am using.

                                    • Power Query - Add option to retain all cells (nulls and errors) when using Unpivot Other Columns

Using Power Query to Unpivot other columns is an amazing feature but it automatically removes nulls and errors.

Add a drop down down (maybe an advanced option) to Unpivot Other to allow the keeping of all items

                                      • Support trusting publishers for certificates used to sign macros on shapes.

When macros are signed with a certificate, the user is given the option to "Trust all documents from this publisher". However, this option is not available when the signed macro is attached to a Shape.

This behaviour should be consistent no matter where the macro was attached.

See attached "failbook.xlsm" and "successbook.xlsm". Failbook has a macro attached to a shape, successbook has a macro attached to a form button. The images "macrooptionssuccessbook.png" and "macrooptionsfailbook.png" show the differences in the macro options screen between the two excel workbooks.

                                        Reproduction steps:

1.-In the Excel Trust Center, enable "Disable all macros with notification"
