  1. Number format thousand separator and no decimals

Every time (many days a year) I train people in Excel, someone ask why there is no button or shortcut to obtain a number format with "thousand separator and no decimals". At least - in northern Europe - this is the most common used number format. If "button-solution" not possible for Microsoft in order to have common buttons world-wide, at least a shortcut for this has been much appreciated. (Note that the current button for thousand separator and two decimals could not be used, though the alignment in that format are not disired/good and two decimals used).

    • Create a command line tool for signing Office files with a digital certificate

Besides Office, Excel files can be created using numerous software tools. More often than not, batches of macro-enabled Excel files are processed with scripts for productivity purposes. However, VBA code signing cannot be part of an automated process, as it is a manual task that requires opening & saving the file in Excel.

This request is about creating a command line tool for signing Office files with a digital certificate, similar to MS SignTool.

In addition, the existing macro signing process in Office is not 100% compatible with Open XML specifications. I can clarify this statement in a private discussion…

      • Add a Reporting Ribbon to Excel to consolidate and highlight the amazing capabilities of Power Query and Power Pivot

Tables, Power Query, Power Pivot and Pivot Tables are amazing tools that will transform the way people build their reports, but only once they know about them!

Let's SHOUT about how good these things are and how well they work together by putting them onto a single new Ribbon called "Reporting" - something like the attached image.

        • Allow brackets in filename or path

When a person's display name contains a bracket character (such as a departmental suffix) this bracket is included in the folder name of a OneDrive shared folder. When a recipient of that OneDrive shared folder attempts to modify an Excel spreadsheet and save it back to the shared folder, they will see an error that the file could not be saved due to invalid characters in the filename or path. If Excel could support the bracket character in the filename or path this would no longer be an issue. (An alternative solution would be to allow admins an option to…

          • Pull Current Stock Prices and Historical Data Into Excel

Now that our ability to use Yahoo! Finance's API to pull in stock information via the WEBSERVICE() function and import historical information is officially dead (thanks Verizon!), the only viable option currently is to use Google sheets to pull in stock information.

It would be awesome if Excel could import data from MSN Money so us users can continue to use spreadsheets to monitor our portfolios.

Progress! As of this morning, we’ve begun enabling the first iteration of Excel’s new data types for a percentage of Office Insiders, including the ability to pull and refresh live stock quotes (and other financial data) straight in to Excel! We’ll be increasing the percentage of Insiders with access to the feature over the coming days and weeks, so if you don’t see it right away please hang in there!*

We acknowledge that right now this is only half of the suggestion (pull current stock prices), but historical data is in our sights and we’re planning to add this and many other improvements to stock and financial data. Your feedback thus far has been immensely valuable in helping us plan and design this work, and we look forward to your continued suggestions for how we can improve to better meet your needs

Again, we genuinely appreciate your involvement as we…

              • Better Support for Analysis Services Tabular

It's about time to improve support for SSAS Tabular:
                1. Auto-generate DAX
                2. Avoid splitting a table into a "measure group" and "dimension". See how PBI Desktop handles metadata.
                3. Carry over data types so that users can create reports, such as show me invoices where Due Date is greater than ... Currently, all dimension table fields map to Text.
                4. Many customers have expressed interest to connect Excel tables directly to Tabular, bypassing Pivot Table, so they can use the column dropdowns and other Excel goodness.
                5. Support descriptions as tooltips when the user hovers on a field in…

                  • Show Tables in Power Query when opening an xlsb file

When using Power Query / Get Data to open .xlsx files and .xlsm files, the Tables present in those files are shown in a list.
When opening a .xlsb file only Sheets are shown and not any of the Tables present within the file.

If there is only one table on a sheet, AND it starts in cell A1, then it is relatively easy to still load the data, but where there are multiple tables per sheet, OR the tables don't start in A1, then there is a lot of unnecessary work deleting Rows and or Columns to obtain your…

                    • Text Interpreter Function without Evaluate()

I would like to harness the ability to evaluate a text formula expression in a range or table. I was wondering if anyone else has thought about this before. It seems that FORMULATEXT() or INDIRECT() could be used for this purpose but alas..... it seems they cannot. Basically, the scenario I would find it most useful would be the ability to set up a formula lookup table and essentially do a vlookup to get the correct formula to use for a particular variable. This would eliminate the need to inject custom VBA functions or use EVALUATE(). This type of functionality…

                      • Shortcut for paste as values

90% of the time I want to past as values, so as to keep the formatting consistent in the location I am pasting. Rather than having to right click then select "paste as values" it would be good to have a shortcut to be able to do this instead.

                          • Choose wheter you want to also copy workbook model or not when copying worksheet

When you copy a worksheet that has tables or pivot tables linked to a Power Query connection or Data Model into a new workbook, Excel copy all the dependencies of the tables/pivot tables.
If you have a large data model, each worksheet copy can take minutes to process.
It would be great if we had an option to choose wheter we want to bring the connection and data models with the new copied worksheet, as the attached file.
Notice also to not forget to add VBA parameters in the Worksheet.Copy methode to access this feature programatically.

                            • Add Get Parameter button to Power Query and avoid Privacy / Formula.Firewall problems

It's fantastic that you can pick up named ranges in Excel and pass them to Power Query as parameters. However the process is cumbersome and often results in Formula.Firewall warnings or other issues.

This leads to having to switch Privacy Levels to "Ignore" or having to write a query within a query rather than nice and clean "parameter" queries.

It would really simplify things if we could quickly create parameter queries (including a drop down to select parameter type) and that these queries would be immune from the Privacy warnings.

Many tims I copy and paste things around from difrent webpages or diffrent spreadsheets into my excel file and it keeps the format too wich causes problem, unless I right click and choos the option, which is so frustrating when you are copy/pasting over hundred things.
I tried to set one but there is no way. I tried Macro bet it did not work.
Please please just add a shortcut key (like Shift+Ctrl+v) or let us to set the default like MS Word.

When using the go to box (opened after using F5 command or trace dependents) the list of linked cells is not wide enough. The navigation would be easier if we could see the complete address.

                                      Here's my formula: =B66+C66
That should be super easy. I filled in down to have a running total. I see no reason for it to not work. This is not some super spreadsheet. It's just a worksheet, like scratch paper. Does Excel need to have pretty borders and headers to make it work?
There are other numbers around, but I'm not getting the chance to say click "Ignore Error"
I really don't like when Excel tells me something has an error when it doesn't. Ask if it's an error. Let me say ignore if forever or at least in all…

                                      • Provide an Option for Column to Text

It would be nice to have a Column to Text option inside Excel.
Currently we can move from Text to Column but the other way round is not provided.
Recently while working with a database, I faced this issue. I had to convert database from MM to INCH. I pasted the database inside excel and moved each value (Semicolon separated) to a separate column using Text to Column. I updated the values using formula.
However, I needed it to be delimited by semicolon again to put it back into database. And I could not do it by any built in…

                                        • Something Wrong with Countifs?

I was just trying to analyse - now hot topic, the FIFA data, and used a

                                          =COUNTIFS($B$4:$B$6,AC9,$F$4:$Z$6,AE$8)

here $B$4:$B$228 - was the region of the individual member countries, (e.g. UEFA),
the AC column is the tabulation row

$F$4:$Z$228 is the rank in the specific FIFA Finals (1..32)
                                          AE8.... AL8 = 1,2,3,4,8, 16,32

The formula gives Error i.e. $Value,

Though two sub-parts work perfectly OK i.e. COUNTIFS($B$4:$B$228,$AC10)
                                          COUNTIFS($F$4:$Z$228,AE$8)
                                          both return correct results...

Is it because one is "String" equality check and other is "Numerical" Equality check?
