  1. Change all the gray fonts back to black

The right click menus are hard to read. But what especially gets me is the "quick numbers" on the bottom right being in gray - those are unique numbers to every situation so you have to really be able to read them well (not just memorize where "insert" is on the right click menu, but you actually need to SEE these numbers). None of the color scheme options gives us what we had, which used to be LEGIBLE. Please go ahead and make an update now rather than waiting until the next version. Please oh please oh please. It just…

  2. Add more visual variety to the Ribbon

Excel 2010 got this part right. The Ribbon was slightly darker at the bottom than at the top. Selected icons and icons that were hovered over were orange, which contrasted well against the background. Most of the icons had shadows under them. The Formula Bar contrasted against the Ribbon above and the sheet below.

This visual variety made Excel 2010 look more inviting than Excel 2016. Microsoft Excel is already a boring program to use and a difficult program to learn, and the new flat design and low contrast only make Excel 2016 look boring too.

    Please add more visual…

  3. Preview Office Background & Office Theme

When I choose an Office Background or Office Theme from File > Options, I do not know what it looks like until I click OK. This is a pain if I am trying out each one to see which one looks best.

My suggestion is that once an option is chosen from the dropdown menus, the GUI should update immediately. The changes should only be permanent if the user chooses OK.

  4. allow to make the background of a sheet transparent (except the tab)

this would be a simple way to create multilayer drawings with shapes
    reasons for this idea:
-an employee or executive has usually no time to learn Illustrator.
    - in the beginning, spreadsheet programs were a kind of Lego allowing a user to build a simple or very complex model easily.

  5. Screen does not update while running a macro in Excel 2013

In Excel 2010, you could control whether or not the screen updates while a macro is running by setting Application.ScreenUpdating to True or False. In Excel 2013, screen updating cannot be controlled in this way.

Screen updating is especially important for long-running macros (e.g. interactive macros, long calculations) to let the user know that the macro is still running and that Excel has not crashed.

Here are some links to people who have also noticed this problem:

  7. Enable the creation of a gradient header/footer/background that can print all the way to the edges of the paper.

Enable the creation of a gradient header/footer/background that can print all the way to the edges of the paper. Or just let Word and Excel play together and share a file format.

  8. Text Wrapping around Pictures

It would be great if the ability to arrange text around pictures which is available in Word was also available in Excel.
Given you're working with a Spreadsheet, it obviously limits what you'd be able to do, but even the capability to move pictures (and graphs, etc) behind the content of the actual spreadsheet would be helpful.

  9. Charts inverted colors

Could you please add "Inverted colors" in charts please.
I have Office 2016 and I cannot find this option in any type of charts or at least in most important ones (Column, Line, Area, Bar, Scatter, Histogram). The inverted colors should be customizable of course, not just white color for negative values like in Pivot charts or other Excel versions.

  10. Allow pictures/images/graphic as a pop up when hovered over. Link images. Embed Images

Similar to the current comments, allow images the ability to pop up when hovering over a cell.

This would have a similar problem to comments however; comments remained fixed to cell even if data is moved.

It would be great if cell images also moved with the cell data.

For example; I have created a spread sheet that will import data from my invoice and place that data into a stock list. I would very much like images to be linked and embed to an item code or item description, and for those linked images to move with my stock…

  11. Zooming changes the size of shapes. E.g. a circle turns into a slight oval as the zoom factor is not 100%, 200%, 300%, or 400%.

When you create a shape and change the zoom factor it appears that height and width vary. This makes it difficult to create exact graphics.

Also, when the angle is not 0°, the zoom factor changes the position of shapes. When two shapes at say 45° are exactly in line with 100% zoom, they are changeing to steps at different zoom factors.

  12. Excel and Word drawing program

In the drawing program in Excel and Word when Edit Points is selected allow position adjustment of points by using the up-down and left-right keys. It is often difficult to position the points accurately by manual means even when full zoom is used.

  13. Make the window adjustable when analysing dependents (excel)

When tracking dependents and precedents, the window is not adjustable. Thus, you cannot not see the entire source of each line. This would be a far better tool, if the window could be adjusted manually.

I'd like to see the ability to draw a shape and then save it to the available shape file (user defined shape / reusable)

  15. scale and units

Please provide tools for insert objects, shapes and drawings to be to scale, for example inserting a line with or without an arrow head to be to scale, 10 feet or 15 feet or 6 inches or 123 inches long ...etc.

Similarly ad a tool to work as scale for VBA

  16. Enable importing photos to worksheets by Drag and Drop (as Mac version)

Add drag and drop ability to Excel for importing photos to worksheets as per the MacOS version.

This is the one thing holding me back from switching to the Windows version of Excel.

  19. Replace the Excel 2016 icon in Power Query

Currently, Power Query uses the Excel 2016 logo as its icon in the top left corner of the Power Query window and in the taskbar. Please change this to either the Excel 2019 logo or a logo that is specific to Power Query.

  20. To make it possible to determine the bounds of a chart by cells for upper and lower

To make it possible to determine the bounds of a chart by cells for upper and lower levels. Most charts will look more interesting when lower bound is always zero. Especially advantageous when input for charts will differ (stocks)
