  2. Fix scroll bug in Excel when using touch screen or track pad - cells glitch and pulled too far - duplicates rows with freeze pane

There is a bug when using Excel with my touch screen or trackpad on my windows 10 laptop.

The cell grid is allowed to be pulled down from the ribbon bar or to the right of the row numbers bar when scrolling down or right using the screen or trackpad.

This is manageable graphic bug for a normal spreadsheet, but when freeze panes are active on the sheet, the scrolling results in the "fixed" cells being pulled from underneath and appearing duplicated (see image attached).

When I plug in a USB mouse and scroll, this issue does not appear.

    I…

  3. Diverging Bar Charts

Hi @Office, it has become common to describe Likert scale survey data as a diverging bar chart as it better visualizes the central tendencies of the data. Myself and some other researchers have been "hacking" it using these guides as references: http://stephanieevergreen.com/diverging-stacked-bars/ and http://peltiertech.com/diverging-stacked-bar-charts/ … . It would be amazing not to have to rely upon such time-consuming / expensive techniques though (more so if there is a neutral category) :)

Attached is an example of what I have made through the convoluted processes described above.

    Thanks!

  4. Add More Shapes

I'd like to see the ability to draw a shape and then save it to the available shape file (user defined shape / reusable)

  5. PlotBox chart

It seems that the PlotBox standard charting does not work as needed; also when I use "Select data" in a BoxPlot chart the dialog does not work properly.
    1. If I select a table with headers, all the Boxplots are clustered together and can identify them only with the legend
    2. I cannot have the Horizontal (category) Axis Labels working: if I select the headers on the X axis I only get one category
    3. For my use I would need to combine the boxplots with a line for a single country but so far it does not seem possible…

  6. Cross-hairs

It would be extremely useful to have a button that would toggle cross-hairs on and off like in AutoCAD. I often find it is difficult to tell where cells are in relation to one another in a large spreadsheet. If a faint line ran horizontally and vertically through all of the cells, this would be a huge usability aid. Have a default color, dashed dotted, etc, but give the user the ability to change this.

  7. Default selection color

Would be nice to include the ability to control the default selection color when highlighting cells. This used to be controlled by the windows appearance menu, but it appears that no longer works. I work with a lot of reports that require grey shaded cells and the ability to overlay a different highlight color would be useful.

  8. View the data in a large graph by more easily shifting ranges and scales

A common task is to scan a large x-y graph for interesting changes in y. I now do this by manually changing the axis limits. This is tedious when a function shows many interesting regions and many scales of variation. The problem is akin to panning and zooming a photo. Excel should have the equivalent functionality when looking at plots of numbers. To a degree, this functionality is already there with View>Zoom, but this is simply a graphical zoom, roughly equivalent to a "digital" zoom on a camera. Better to have an "optical" zoom, with panning by dragging the mouse.…

  9. scale and units

Please provide tools for insert objects, shapes and drawings to be to scale, for example inserting a line with or without an arrow head to be to scale, 10 feet or 15 feet or 6 inches or 123 inches long ...etc.

Similarly ad a tool to work as scale for VBA

  10. The Colors of Excel Cell headers need to be more clearer or more Contrast

in an excel page to try where exactly the selected cell through headers and rows is difficult you have to move the cursor to identify the selected cell.... but if the headers and rows was highlighted with a different color (than the current) would be great

  11. chart axes length

I'd like a way to make sure that all chart axes are the same length amongst a group of charts. i.e., if I have 4 bar charts there should be an intuitive way to make the axes all the same length amongst them so you can align them on one page in a pretty format)

I need a few more details. By controlling the length, do you want to control the min and max axis settings?

    Thanks,

1040 Tax forms in PDF form can be coped to excel as a picture. I need a way to cut holes (boxes) to access various Excel cells to make active forms (adding subtracting, multiplying and other functions) would then be available.

  13. Embedding all Office applications in just one interface

I am finding the problem to do such simple things since long time ago. I think that all package of Office should be just embedded and included in only one interface, the same as it has been made possible to insert table from Word to Excell or inserting a table of Excell in Word, it
should include for example aswell the picture manager with the features of Power Point where you can crop, group, set on front, change format, size, etc. and with the feature that Publisher contains of making transparent one of the colours of the photo, but also…

  15. Use a contrasting colour to indicate hidden rows/columns

It is very hard to notice where hidden columns are at a quick glance. The boundary between the column labels where the hidden column is doesn't stand out. Please make this boundary stand out more, perhaps by using a contrasting colour. The same goes for hidden rows. This would help avoid silly mistakes involving deletion of row/column ranges that appear to be empty.

  16. Histogram display needs improvement

Histogram display is not very useful in its current form. It needs to support more labeling options for the horizontal axis; needs to be integrated into Quick Analysis and PivotCharts; needs to support the option to display user-defined vertical lines (what are commonly called targets or spec limits).

  17. Please improve the candlestick stock chart with multiple charts (candle and line in 1 chart), and dispaly only days with data

The candlestick charts are too basic to have any real value. They are not formatted correctly as they include weekends and holidays. The candles should only be displayed for dates with data. Additionally there should be ability to combine a candlestick chart with a line chart

  18. Make the Default Alignment of Shapes Middle-Center

When a shape is drawn in other Office apps, the text is centered both horizontally and vertically. But in Excel it's aligned to the Top-Left. Please make it Middle-Center instead.

  19. Add more visual variety to the Ribbon

Excel 2010 got this part right. The Ribbon was slightly darker at the bottom than at the top. Selected icons and icons that were hovered over were orange, which contrasted well against the background. Most of the icons had shadows under them. The Formula Bar contrasted against the Ribbon above and the sheet below.

This visual variety made Excel 2010 look more inviting than Excel 2016. Microsoft Excel is already a boring program to use and a difficult program to learn, and the new flat design and low contrast only make Excel 2016 look boring too.

    Please add more visual…

  20. Colour QAT Icons in Dark Themes

Add the colour from the QAT icons available in the 'white' and 'colourful' themes into the QAT icons for 'dark gray' and 'black' themes. This would make the QAT icons much easier to see and access, especially in the 'dark gray' theme.
