  1. Insert tolerance curves to the graphical trend line

On your graphic, when you add the trend line, it can be very useful to have the possibility to add the upper limit and lower limit lines. For example, the X axis contains the number of hours due to projects, and the Y axis contains the projects' price. It would be very useful to implement limits (up and down) to the trend line. Then, you can have an estimation of the number of hours you can use for a project of a certain price, and vice versa.
You fix the percentage of gap you want (Exemple +/- 10%) and it…

  2. Add a lock symbol on the protected sheet tab

A small lock symbol on the protected sheet tab would be a little addition but visually important!

  4. 1 File name in bold and highlighted on top of file.

Note I am a long term user of MS Office, low vision for the last 5 years, but still working in a demanding analytical job. Many improvements for low vision, help everyone.

    1. Upgrade the treatment of the file name. It is the passport in hostile waters - the only thing that provides stability. Consider the situation where text or numerical results are being compared from similar files all open at once. Specifics:
    a. File name at top of open file: Put in bold with highlight.
    b. In tray at bottom of screen, file name should be in bold black…

  5. Graphics rendering for printing (bug fixes)

A few years ago I found a reproducible bug when putting a graphic (company logo) in the upper right corner of each 'printed' sheet of a worksheet (each column was set to be the width of one printed sheet). For reasons to extensive to discuss here, page header was not a good option. The graphic was moved (left/right) on page 1 only, subsequent pages were fine. Our only solution was to manually adjust the logo on page 1 until the physical print looked fine. This was all at 100% no zoom. IIRC, an Excel MVP was able to repro as…

  6. Align Shapes like Powerpoint

Have the alignment arrows appear as they do in Powerpoint so when moving a shape on a sheet, the dotted line appears when shape is aligned or locked to another shape.

  7. Allow pictures/images/graphic as a pop up when hovered over. Link images. Embed Images

Similar to the current comments, allow images the ability to pop up when hovering over a cell.

This would have a similar problem to comments however; comments remained fixed to cell even if data is moved.

It would be great if cell images also moved with the cell data.

For example; I have created a spread sheet that will import data from my invoice and place that data into a stock list. I would very much like images to be linked and embed to an item code or item description, and for those linked images to move with my stock…

  8. histogram - get the axis correctly labelled

The new histogram feature is great and long overdue. It is a shame that it is necessary to then manually edit the axis label in paint. A histogram is a plot of continuous data it should not have category labels but a continuous scale. See for example:

You will notice that in all of these articles the histogramhas a continuous scale. If we put a smoothing spline over it - it must have a continous scale.

  10. chart black and white

In chart tools, the most commonly used color scheme for technical presentations of experimental data are black and white charts with differing markers. This used to be available in the old versions of MS Excel probably 2010 and older but was dropped to give way to colored plots. However, most academic journals still prefer a black and white plot with a legend for the different markers used.

This can be manually made but it is very tedious when working with a large amount of data.

  11. Allow setting default properties for Chart Area

By default Chart Area property is set to "Move and Size with cells".
Every time i create a graph, i have to change the property value manually (e.g. select "Move but don't size with cells).

Why not allow a user setting a default property value in Options?

  12. Insertion of a picture in a cell comment box

It would be nice to be able to insert a picture in a cell comment box. Currently text is all that is available. For instance, a picture of a part that is being described in a cell. The comment would show up when the pointer is on the cell like the text is now.

    Thanks

  13. Embed objects and graphics alongside text in a cell

Embed objects and graphics alongside text in a cell so that the object or graphic can move with the text as edits or links are made to that cell. Also, enable embedded objects and graphics to be defined and changed within the text according to logic arguments.

  14. clipboard display has too much space around entries - twice as many terms could/should be accessed if formatted like a spreadsheet column

Clipboard display has too much space around entries - twice as many terms could/should be accessed - or at least 24 could be visible without blocking spreadsheet if clipboard were formatted like a spreadsheet column instead of a template.
And way more items should be available to copy and should be easily saved and moved as a group.

  16. X-axis format for dates

If you have a graph that has an x-axis containing dates, when you try to format that axis, the min and max look like this: 42153 and 42369 that I take correspond to the number of days elapsed since "the big bang or something I guess". It would be nice if we could actually have for these a date picker so that I can select min at "10th Nov 2017" and max at "29th Jan 2018"

  18. Inserting Multiple Pictures is Broken - only one picture treated as picture

If you insert multiple pictures all at once into Excel, only the last inserted picture is treated as a picture (e.g. the Picture Tools tab is activated). All the other pictures are treated as objects, and some options are not available (such as the Picture tools tab and the contextual menu item "Size and Properties").

Furthermore "picture pictures" can only be grouped with other "picture pictures", and "picture objects" can only be grouped with other "picture objects". Neither can be grouped with drawing objects.

See attachment "PictureObject.PNG" for a picture that was treated as an object, and attachment "PicturePicture.PNG" for…

  19. Shapes are distorted when printed. The height-width ratio on the printout is smaller than on screen view.

A circle is printed as an oval, a sqaure is printed as rectangle, always loosing height in the printout. Seem sto be influences by the screen resolution used. When I copy to WORD and print then there is no such distortion.

  20. Zooming changes the size of shapes. E.g. a circle turns into a slight oval as the zoom factor is not 100%, 200%, 300%, or 400%.

When you create a shape and change the zoom factor it appears that height and width vary. This makes it difficult to create exact graphics.

Also, when the angle is not 0°, the zoom factor changes the position of shapes. When two shapes at say 45° are exactly in line with 100% zoom, they are changeing to steps at different zoom factors.
