  3. Diverging Bar Charts

    Hi @Office, it has become common to describe Likert scale survey data as a diverging bar chart as it better visualizes the central tendencies of the data. Myself and some other researchers have been "hacking" it using these guides as references: http://stephanieevergreen.com/diverging-stacked-bars/ and http://peltiertech.com/diverging-stacked-bar-charts/ … . It would be amazing not to have to rely upon such time-consuming / expensive techniques though (more so if there is a neutral category) :)

    Attached is an example of what I have made through the convoluted processes described above.

  4. shape dimensioning

    I use and layer shapes a lot . I'd like to see an onscreen dimensioning tool, a bit like autocad, pop up as an object is resized. I'd also like to display the dimensions with arrows and hide or show these dimensions. Finally I'd like to be able to change the default on text box margins. I usually used no margins and center vertical ly and horizontally

  5. Cross-hairs

    It would be extremely useful to have a button that would toggle cross-hairs on and off like in AutoCAD. I often find it is difficult to tell where cells are in relation to one another in a large spreadsheet. If a faint line ran horizontally and vertically through all of the cells, this would be a huge usability aid. Have a default color, dashed dotted, etc, but give the user the ability to change this.

  7. PlotBox chart

    It seems that the PlotBox standard charting does not work as needed; also when I use "Select data" in a BoxPlot chart the dialog does not work properly.
    1. If I select a table with headers, all the Boxplots are clustered together and can identify them only with the legend
    2. I cannot have the Horizontal (category) Axis Labels working: if I select the headers on the X axis I only get one category
    3. For my use I would need to combine the boxplots with a line for a single country but so far it does not seem possible…

  8. scale and units

    Please provide tools for insert objects, shapes and drawings to be to scale, for example inserting a line with or without an arrow head to be to scale, 10 feet or 15 feet or 6 inches or 123 inches long ...etc.

    Similarly ad a tool to work as scale for VBA

  11. chart axes length

    I'd like a way to make sure that all chart axes are the same length amongst a group of charts. i.e., if I have 4 bar charts there should be an intuitive way to make the axes all the same length amongst them so you can align them on one page in a pretty format)

  12. Embedding all Office applications in just one interface

    I am finding the problem to do such simple things since long time ago. I think that all package of Office should be just embedded and included in only one interface, the same as it has been made possible to insert table from Word to Excell or inserting a table of Excell in Word, it
    should include for example aswell the picture manager with the features of Power Point where you can crop, group, set on front, change format, size, etc. and with the feature that Publisher contains of making transparent one of the colours of the photo, but also…

  13. Add more visual variety to the Ribbon

    Excel 2010 got this part right. The Ribbon was slightly darker at the bottom than at the top. Selected icons and icons that were hovered over were orange, which contrasted well against the background. Most of the icons had shadows under them. The Formula Bar contrasted against the Ribbon above and the sheet below.

    This visual variety made Excel 2010 look more inviting than Excel 2016. Microsoft Excel is already a boring program to use and a difficult program to learn, and the new flat design and low contrast only make Excel 2016 look boring too.

  14. Make the Default Alignment of Shapes Middle-Center

    When a shape is drawn in other Office apps, the text is centered both horizontally and vertically. But in Excel it's aligned to the Top-Left. Please make it Middle-Center instead.

  15. Outermost right parenthesis ) miscolouring

    When you edit a formula, your parentheses may be temporarily mismatched. If you have more ) than ( and then add ( to balance the parentheses, then the ) of the outermost set of parentheses will have the same colour as the 2nd outermost set rather than be coloured black.

    For example, type =()) into the formula bar and add a ( to make it =(()).

    This miscolouring can add to the confusion of editing a large formula.

  16. Preview Office Background & Office Theme

    When I choose an Office Background or Office Theme from File > Options, I do not know what it looks like until I click OK. This is a pain if I am trying out each one to see which one looks best.

    My suggestion is that once an option is chosen from the dropdown menus, the GUI should update immediately. The changes should only be permanent if the user chooses OK.

  17. Outline font (glow effect) in the sheet tabs

    Excel automatically switches the colour of the sheet tab font to either black or white to provide high contrast with the tab colour for unselected sheets. However, there is sometimes a grey area where neither black nor white is easily readable (e.g. the "green" standard colour).

    In Excel 2016, the tab colour is lightened for selected sheets and the font colour is always green. For dark tab colours (e.g. black), the sheet name can be hard to read.

    My suggestion is to keep the sheet tab font white and outline it in black (or possibly let the user choose the…

  18. Holes in the scroll bars of form control list boxes

    If you go to the Developer tab and, against a coloured background, insert a list box from the Form Controls, you will see a transparent 1-pixel strip on either side of the list box's scroll bar.

    This issue arises when you make a "pseudo-form" using form controls and shape objects grouped together.

    It's not visually appealing. Please fill these holes.

  19. & not displaying correctly in PivotTable Connections of Slicers

    If you right-click on a Slicer and go to PivotTable Connections (Excel 2010 and below) or Report Connections (Excel 2013 and above), then any & in the sheet name will not display correctly.

    If you have a single &, the next character will be underlined.
    If you have &&, it will show as &.
    If you have & at the end, it will show as a period.
    If you have two & separated by at least one character, the 1st one will disappear and the 2nd will show as a period.

    Other symbols that are allowed in sheet names seem…

  20. allow to make the background of a sheet transparent (except the tab)

    this would be a simple way to create multilayer drawings with shapes
    reasons for this idea:
    -an employee or executive has usually no time to learn Illustrator.
    - in the beginning, spreadsheet programs were a kind of Lego allowing a user to build a simple or very complex model easily.
