    I'd like to see the ability to draw a shape and then save it to the available shape file (user defined shape / reusable)

  2. Colour QAT Icons in Dark Themes

    Add the colour from the QAT icons available in the 'white' and 'colourful' themes into the QAT icons for 'dark gray' and 'black' themes. This would make the QAT icons much easier to see and access, especially in the 'dark gray' theme.

  3. Better compatiity with the Surface Pen

    With the surface pen, users should be able to write in any cell on a spreadsheet and excel will automatically convert the handwriting to digital numbers or letters when the user starts writing in a different cell (or maybe after users draw a special characters like a check mark or something like that to signal to excel that the user is done writing in that cell.)

  4. Use a contrasting colour to indicate hidden rows/columns

    It is very hard to notice where hidden columns are at a quick glance. The boundary between the column labels where the hidden column is doesn't stand out. Please make this boundary stand out more, perhaps by using a contrasting colour. The same goes for hidden rows. This would help avoid silly mistakes involving deletion of row/column ranges that appear to be empty.

  5. Histogram display needs improvement

    Histogram display is not very useful in its current form. It needs to support more labeling options for the horizontal axis; needs to be integrated into Quick Analysis and PivotCharts; needs to support the option to display user-defined vertical lines (what are commonly called targets or spec limits).

  6. Please improve the candlestick stock chart with multiple charts (candle and line in 1 chart), and dispaly only days with data

    The candlestick charts are too basic to have any real value. They are not formatted correctly as they include weekends and holidays. The candles should only be displayed for dates with data. Additionally there should be ability to combine a candlestick chart with a line chart

  7. I need to be able to include an image/picture/graph -inside- a cell, as cell content and filetype.

    This I need so very often! And so great features would be possible.
    Just to name the most obvious, a sortable list, where one column is for representative images. It would be sortable by the other columns and resize the cells accordingly.

    I know, that pictures are linked with their left top pixel to the respective cell, but that is way too less to be feasible for all the necessary applications.

  8. View the data in a large graph by more easily shifting ranges and scales

    A common task is to scan a large x-y graph for interesting changes in y. I now do this by manually changing the axis limits. This is tedious when a function shows many interesting regions and many scales of variation. The problem is akin to panning and zooming a photo. Excel should have the equivalent functionality when looking at plots of numbers. To a degree, this functionality is already there with View>Zoom, but this is simply a graphical zoom, roughly equivalent to a "digital" zoom on a camera. Better to have an "optical" zoom, with panning by dragging the mouse.…

  10. Comments - stop resizing and moving comments

    When hiding and un-hiding rows, or moving rows, or having freeze panes on, the comments on cells for no reason stretch or move far down one's sheet. It would be really nice if the size of the comment stays as is and it doesn't move all over.

  11. Preview Office Background & Office Theme

    When I choose an Office Background or Office Theme from File > Options, I do not know what it looks like until I click OK. This is a pain if I am trying out each one to see which one looks best.

    My suggestion is that once an option is chosen from the dropdown menus, the GUI should update immediately. The changes should only be permanent if the user chooses OK.

  12. More/Custom QAT icons

    It would be great if we could get more icon choices for our QAT buttons. Excel already has a huge library of 16px icons, yet we only have access to 20-30 of them. Most of the time none of the icons make sense with the macro task I put up there.

    Get rid of the "Green circle" filler icon and at least let us pick our own icon from the available choices. It is a pain having a bunch of green circle buttons in the QAT at once and defeats the purpose of being able to visually pick out a…

  13. Screen does not update while running a macro in Excel 2013

    In Excel 2010, you could control whether or not the screen updates while a macro is running by setting Application.ScreenUpdating to True or False. In Excel 2013, screen updating cannot be controlled in this way.

    Screen updating is especially important for long-running macros (e.g. interactive macros, long calculations) to let the user know that the macro is still running and that Excel has not crashed.

  14. Insert an image directly from a scanner

    In order to insert an image from hardcopy material it is necessary to scan the material to a graphic file and then insert the graphic. It would save time and effort to insert an image directly from a scanner. For example, I scan invoices and cash register receipts from individuals to insert into a voucher for authorization to cut a check for reimbursement to the individual.

  15. Filtering and highlighting on Pareto chart

    It should be useful to have the capability to filter on a pareto chart the categories that account for the 80% for example. When there are a lot of data it is not visible. Also it is useful if there are some type of vertical lines where you can highlight the boundaries for A%,B%,C%...

    currently it is very difficult to see which color set is applied in themes. it highlights a bit but the outline is very thin. can not be seen properly. it should be thick. also it would be better if applied color set stays on top. a search option can also be included to search for a particular set of colors

  19. Export to .pdf as graphic rather than a full page

    When I export an Excel table to a .pdf file, Excel puts the graphic on a full page and exports the whole page. Many times one wants to create a .pdf graphic file not as something standalone to print, but as a graphic for inclusion in another document, . It should be possible to export JUST THE TABLE as a .pdf graphic. Since the Excel graphic itself is a vector graphic, not a raster graphic, this would make it MUCH easier for the user to adjust the final graphic size wherever s/he wants to put it..

  20. It should be easier to copy graphs and then use different (but equivalently structured) data to feed them.

    I don't know if this is a problem just with scattergraphs, but I often have to produce multiple identically-formatted graphs using different columns of the same table showing the relationships between pairs of variables. If I copy the graph and select the new data, this doesn't work. It should.
