  1. Add Smart Art Tool Ishikawa (Fishbone) Diagram

Create a smart art graphic to create an Ishikawa (a.k.a. Fishbone) Diagram. The attached file is from the ASQ website.

    • Make sure that data labels are not overlapping

      Hi!

I often use some combination of vba, pitvottables and the Offset function to get automatically updating charts. The only problem that I continously have and cannot solve is that data labels for new data Points are overalapping so that they are impossible to read. Of course I know that I can adjust this manually with drag and drop. But I would definetely like a function that automatically separates the data labels for the last data Point so that they can be read. Googled it and many people are looking for the same function and no one seem to have…

      • Open-source the visualizations engine in Excel like you've done with PowerBI.

I'm going to paraphrase Chris Campbell from Blue Granite because he sets it out far more eloquently than I ever could:

The trend for the past several years has been for customers to want to leverage out-of-the-box capabilities of their BI tool to support reporting and analysis. But software companies simply can't keep up with new innovations in visualization.

Open sourcing visuals in Excel means they would become drag-n-drop objects just like all the other built in options. The ability to extend the capabilities of the product with an easily accessible, open source interface opens up tons of possibilities, and…

        • Trend line on wrong axes

When I added a trend line to data on the secondary axis it used the primary axis and was not visible. Once visible it did not overlay the data.

          • On a scatter chart, provide ability to shade the area between two traces

Been waiting for this for years... In science or engineering, when the difference between two traces has a particular meaning, the ability to shade the area between them helps greatly in making it clear to an audience. Of course this can be painstakingly done by creating drawing objects to superimpose onto the chart, but as soon as your data changes, the work is lost. Thank you!

            • Remember the options for the graph

I constantly have to adjust my newly created graph to match my desire, because the default settings create a very unprofessionial look.

It would be great for excel to store the option that i used for the last graph.

              • Inserting elbows and not being able to keep the shape drives me crazy!

When inserting an elbow, one could hold the Ctrl key down and drag one end of the elbow to keep it from switching to the opposite shape. This is different from holding the Shift key down because it automatically switches to the opposite shape when you hold it down and drag one end of the elbow.

                  • Allow multi-level labels for waterfall chart

Currently, if you select several rows for horizontal axis categories in the waterfall chart, the chart just shows the last row value. In older Excel charts, data from all rows would be displayed (with grouping, when necessary). Interestingly, the data does show up correctly in the 'Select data' dialog (see attached picture), but not in the chart itself.
I think the advantages of being able to to multi-level labels are obvious, but I'll give just a couple examples from my own experience:
                    1) being able to group things together
                    2) being able to add numeric labels for quick reference to…

                    • Would it be possible to include a way to generate panel/trellis/stacked charts like other applications?

It would be nice to have a matrix of charts with nice vertical/horizontal alignment.

                      • Confidence/Prediction Intervals for trend lines?

Since Excel already calculates various types of trend line equations for scatter plots, it would be nice to see Excel take it one more step and offer to plot confidence and prediction intervals (perhaps as shaded regions) on scatter plots.

                        • Would it be possible to use ColorBrewer.org as a basis for some of your chart themes?

http://colorbrewer2.org This web site has a large list of color scales intended for use on maps. The color scales are also useful for charts/series. You can pick color scales that can be seen by color blind people, that will show up well when copied in black and white, will show up well when displayed on a screen or printed material.

                          • Allow Deletion of Selected Data Series from the Chart Legend (But Not from the Chart)

Prior to Excel 2016, it was possible to delete a data series from the chart legend without deleting the data series from the chart itself. (The user just double-clicked on the data series name in the legend, and then hit “delete”.) This legend editing feature is useful in charts which contain data series which are not the focus of the chart (for example, chart annotations which are plotted as a data series). Without this legend editing feature, the legend can become unwieldy. Please restore this legend editing feature to Excel.

                            • format axis negative number custom

I have noticed an error in this route:
                              Format Axis> Axis Options> Number>Format Code

When my data include negative amounts and I custom the axis values, the negative sign sits before the customized axis values.
                              For example, I need to display "10^" before axis values and the axis units are -7, -5, -3, -1, 1, 3, 5, 7...
I type this format code: "10^"#
                              I expect: 10^-7, 10^-5, 10^-3, 10^-1, 10^1, 10^3, 10^5, 10^7
                              but what is displayed is -10^7, -10^5, -10^3, -10^1, 10^1, 10^3, 10^5....

                              • Support mapping large data sets

I've tried mapping data sets between 14 million and 90 million rows, imported through power pivot and haven't had any success. Each time I get the error message "3D maps encountered an error and could not complete the last action".

I haven't had any issue on smaller data sets <1 million. It would be great if Power maps could support large data sets.

                                • Make a fill option for polygons/vectors created by point diagrams

Im currently using Excel to create dynamic, visual vector diagrams for power engineering, also plotting marked functions like supply and demand. To do these, I use point diagrams with lines, and its working very good.

However, in order to make really beautiful visualizations we need the option to "fill" the area under or in between points created as a point diagram, like in the hand-drawn picture attached.

Making area graphs work with both X and Y axis would also solve this issue.

                                  kind regards,

                                  • Range Bar Chart in Excel

A Range Bar Chart is very useful for displaying change between 2 points in time

Please see my web post on this

                                    http://www.excelnaccess.com/range-bar-chart/

I was able to produce this chart in Excel using some tricks. File is attached

I would love to see this Chart in Excel's arsenal. Please could you introduce this Chart in next Excel's version.

                                    • CUSTOMIZE THEME FOR VISUAL DISABILITY

allow users with visual disabilities to customize not just backgrounds and text colors but to change color of the frames around the buttons.

                                      • Nudge Chart Data Labels With The Arrow Keys

I create charts all the time in Excel that eventually end up in executive-level presentations where every pixel has to be perfect. I always run into issues when I have trended line charts that need to have data labels included in them. Inevitably, the data labels always need to be slightly repositioned in order to be legible.

Currently, the only way to move a chart's data label is with the mouse which is very frustrating when you are trying to make slight movements. It would be much more efficient to be able to re-position the labels with the arrow keys.

                                        • Add a step or staircase chart to Type Of Charts

A step chart (or staircase chart) is needed. It could be a line or area. Nowadays line or area charts are "linear" type of charts, but very often step/staircase type would be much useful and easier to look at.
