  1. Fix Personal.xlsb is Locked for Editing

    Using Excel Version 2006 13001 20266:
PERSONAL.XLSB is Locked For Editing occurs while attempting to open an Excel file.

    To Replicate:
    From Excel, navigate to File->Open->Browse
Make sure Preview Pane is Enabled
    Click on any Excel File.
You may receive a popup error (Hidden behind the currently open Excel window) stating PERSONAL.XLSB is loced for editing.

This is because Excel requires a second instance to preview the file. When instantiating Excel the second time, the PERSONAL.XLSB file attempts to open. Because it is already open, the second attempt to open the file results in "PERSIONAL.XLSB is locked for editing.

  3. Option to resize the tabs in a workbook to a smaller or larger fontsize.

Changing the font size of the Excel sheet tabs was an option available on older versions of Excel and Windows. This option is no longer possible with Excel 2016 on Windows 10.

  5. Allow Excel cursors to take on the properties of the defined Windows cursors

As a trainer, I like to demonstrate actions to my delegates. I have downloaded various highlighted cursors so they can follow my actions on screen, and I was very pleased when Windows 10 got the ability to colour and resize cursors. But the colours only apply to the Windows cursors, not the cursors that appear when working inside a worksheet. It would be good to have an option to let Excel use the same colours as in the Windows Settings - and/or maybe a cursor highlight too.

  7. Duplicate a tab right next to it

There should be an option when I right click on a tab to duplicate a tab right next to it. It is VERY FRUSTRATING that I have to click so many things to duplicate a tab and scroll through to specify the location of new tab.
Finally, while scrolling through, the mouse sliding feature of the mouse does not work, we have to click on the scroll bar button--VERY VERY ANNOYING and simple thing to have implemented 4 versions ago.

  8. View two worksheets at once

I suggest an option to view two sheets from the same workbook at once. Maybe a moveable line from top-to-bottom where the sheet tabs appear in both side and you can choose different sheets for each side. This would simplify working on two sheets at once.

  9. Checkbox in View to show hidden sheets

I suggest a checkbox in "View" to show hidden sheets. Hidden tabs could appear at the top (or in a second row below the regular tabs), with smaller tabs and labels in Italics (to indicate hidden). Tabs could be right-clicked for option to unhide, or dragged to the row of not-hidden tabs to unhide. This would make brief access of the hidden tabs much easier. It would also make hiding and unhiding tabs much easier.

  11. Make the status bar undockable to move results window and allow CTRL+V

The status bar has a set size and truncates results larger than the space provided. Allow for the status bar to be stretched within the bar itself and also undocked as a separate window to move anywhere on the screen. Also, allow copy of results from the status bar.

  12. Double right click a reference in a formula to jump to that location

Problem: When you are handed an existing Excel file to maintain and you need to work out how it's been put together by looking at the flow of the formulas, i.e. from the starting point (source data) through to the final result calculated. Doing so may often involve navigating through several cells and worksheet tabs.

    Current Excel version:

    1) Click on the cell with the formula you want to inspect and remember the reference you want to look at
    2) Try to find it yourself or Go to Formulas>Trace Precedents
    3) Go back to the cell and double click the…

  13. On Print Preview page, move Page Setup to top of page

With Page Setup at the bottom you always have to scroll down to get to it.

  14. Sort Comments

When reviewing and selecting 'Show comments', you should have the option to sort the comments in the window pane. I would like to sort comments by date and not be cell only.

  15. Columnas y filas sombreadas

    4. Desactivar el sombreado de filas y columnas.

    Gracias

  16. Remove search bar from the title bar; put it back down with the content

The search bar has recently been moved to the title bar. It is in the way, makes it more difficult to manage multiple windows, and feels very out of place. Please put it back down near the content being searched; the title bar needs to remain relatively free of clutter so that one can quickly grab it and move the window, double-click maximize with it, see the document name, etc.

  17. Calibrate vertical scroll bar to display active rows in worksheet: click scroll bar for desired row.

Calibrate vertical scroll bar to display active rows in worksheet. Always have the slider located exactly in the middle of the scroll bar. Instead of using the slider just click on the approximate row number you want above or below the slider. Once scroll bar is clicked slider will locate to selected approximate row and scroll bar will display active rows above the slider and the active rows below the slider. If implemented I personally will save lots of scrolling time in my worksheets that average over 8000 active rows.

  18. Shortcut to Exit Split Screen for all Windows

It would also be nice to have a shortcut to simply return both windows to regular view at the same time.

Now you have to escape the view in one document, go back to the other one, and repeat the process.

  19. Split Screen--Change Documents/Windows

When you place two documents/windows in a split screen, if you want to replace one of them with another, it seems you have to escape the Split Screen Mode for both and start from scratch.

There seems to be no way to bypass that, close one window and open another in its place.

It would be good if they would provide this in the system!
