  1. Implement Quasi MDI Windows using Windows 10 Sets Feature

    In Windows 10 there seems to be a feature, still under development called Windows Sets. https://www.howtogeek.com/352109/how-to-use-sets-in-windows-10-to-organize-apps-into-tabs/
    While MS pulled this feature from the latest public builds of Windows 10, it looks like it’s not dead, but sleeping, due to make a comeback once issues have been ironed out. https://www.theinquirer.net/inquirer/news/3081852/windows-10-sets-coming-back-rumour

    If this is the case then it would be the perfect way to bring make MDI like functionality to Excel for those users who miss it. Certainly from a Excel custom Application perspective MDI windows worked very well.

  2. Resize GoTo Dialog Box

    For the love of G-d, please, after all these years, make all dialog boxes, especially the GoTo dialog box!

    For example, it is IMPOSSIBLE to decipher contents in the GoTo dialog box when using longer Excel file and sheet names.

    Most programming languages provide simple ways to define resizable dialog boxes (e.g. Resizable: True, Max Height, Max Width, etc.)
    If Microsoft would take 1 extra minute to fix this in Excel, I believe it would save users like me hundreds of minutes per year. That would free me up to use even more Microsoft products!

  3. Please Allow Keyboard Shortcut Customizations In Excel.

    Surprisingly Customizations In Keyboard Shortcuts Are Allowed For Excel In Mac And Not Windows Even When Both Excel And Windows Are Microsoft Trademark.
    Please Add Feature To Allow Keyboard Customizations To Excel As In Work For Aiding Ease Of Access To Various Commands As Per User Preferences.

  4. Please make it easier for the eye to spot the active cell. The thin green lines are too hard to spot.

    Give us the possibility to change the background color, of the active cell, to any color suites the user.

  5. Expand Dark Mode

    Provide an option in dark mode in which the cell color defaults to black ( ie "no fill" results in a black background) and the text color defaults to white or light gray

  6. Option to highlight the row or cell where your cursor is located.

    Currently there is only a line around the row number or the cell.

    E.g., you are on row 12 or on row 12, column L, the entire row or a cell will highlight in a pale color different than the worksheet. This would work well for those who have 10 or more columns going across. The end-user could choose a color and it could be a toggle for those who do not opt to have the row/cell highlighted.

  8. Restore the WORKSPACE feature to Excel 365. It has always been a great aid.

    I have several workbooks that have closely related topics.
    The WORKSPACE feature allowed me to quickly observe the effects of linked worksheets, etc.

    It is surprising to learn that Excel 365 does not support this feature.

  9. Persistent Highlighting of Rows (or Columns) When Not The Active Window/App

    Like most professionals these days, I have a multi-monitor configuration for my computer which allows me to have two apps open and visible at the same time. This is handy when getting data from one source via an Excel spreadsheet while updating data in another Excel spreadsheet.

    It allows me to keep both spreadsheets open, one on each monitor, as I walk the one to update the other.

    The issue is: When I select a row in the source spreadsheet, it is highlighted. When I make the other spreadsheet the active window, the highlight disappears from the source spreadsheet.

  10. Excel Active versus Inactive worksheet

    When working in excel in different worksheets the active worksheet should have a different color for the active bar. Bold is a help but not as easily recognized as a active tile bar color would be.

    Please have a different color for the active worksheet bar than the inactive worksheet title bar.

  11. Have a double freeze feature.

    I need a double / multiple freeze feature. Imagine columns A to F - I have a sheet where I would like to freeze columns A & F so that I could horizontally scroll columns B, C , D and E - e.g. scroll through a defined mid-section.

  12. An active sheet bar.

    I work with 10s of sheets in my workbook and switching between them is difficult and it breaks the flow of your work.

    When I scroll on the sheet bar. Instead of the current sheet the sheet bar should move (left/right) so switching between a lot of sheets becomes easy.

  13. Show Pinned not Recent on excel startup

    Upon opening excel it use to show pinned files alphabetically with recent files below by date and time. Now the tabs are separate and when excel opens is displays recent not pinned, I have to click on pinned to get that list. Make a General Option to open to recent or pinned based on user preference.

  14. Split screen where scrolling through or filtering in one side does not affect the other side.

    Example:

    A table of 5 columns is in "A to E".

    A pivot table of these 5 columns is in columns "F and G".

    I scroll up and down in the table and change certain entries. I like to refresh the pivot table, but I have scroll back up to see the pivot table before I can refresh it.

    Alternatively, I may be filtering the table and making some changes to some entries. I have to un-filter the table, as the pivot table disappears when filters are applied to the table, before I can refresh the pivot table and see…

  16. Easy navigation across worksheets using back and forward buttons

    A back and forward button would be helpful (like in internet explorer) so that while working in files with a number of sheets, user can easily navigate back and forth using these buttons.
    For example User selected "sheet-4 cell D4" and then selected sheet "sheet-15 cell X25" by using say trace precedent command or just by clicking the cell, if she now clicks "back" button it will take you to "sheet-4 cell D4" again. (This can be say upto 5 steps forward and 5 steps backward)

  17. Allow navigating from sheet to sheet and landing in the same cell.

    Move from sheet to sheet in a workbook so that one ends up in the same cell in each sheet. In LOTUS 123 it was [SHIFT}{ALT}{PAGEUP} OR {PAGEDOWN}.

  18. Add a Select All when un-hiding tabs (sheets) in a workbook

    You are able to highlight multiple tabs and hide them all at once but when you need to un-hide tabs you have to select one at a time. It would be night to be able to multi select or select all in the un-hide pop up box. Right now I have a file that I have to hit un-hide 52 times to get everything to show back up.

  19. Tell why a button is grayed out.

    MS Office users waste many hours trying to understand why certain ribbon buttons are grayed out. (Witness many forums on the matter.) Add a help feature that lists why any option is currently disabled, or, pop up a "why" explanation upon mouse hover. It is a sad disservice to customers when you shut down functionality in a complex purchased product with no explanation.

  20. When switching between to workbooks for the screen not to go to the active cell automatically

    While working with two or more worsheets and following a row data I have to scroll down on the sheet without selecting a cell, if I switch then between both workbooks and get back to the first one, the screen will jump automatically to the active cell, loosing the view of the information I was looking for.
