  3. Tag all clickable items with their respective keyboard shortcut

I use strikethrough with Excel, and though most clickable items indicate their respective keyboard shortcut right with the item (or if you hover mouse); the text formatting pop window does not indicate the shortcut for effects. I was surprised to discover that there even is a shortcut (Ctrl+5). Suggest that all clickable methods include indication of its shortcut.

    Thank you!

  4. Conditional Formatting Labels

When you add a Conditional Format via formula, the dialog box currently contains the sections "Rule", "Format", "Applies To", and "Stop If True". Another section should be added called "Label," a text input box

If I have 20 conditional format formulas applied to one cell, I would have to backtrack each formula to remember what each does.

By including a "Label" section, user can input "this formula italicizes text in cell if...(insert met condition)"

  7. Create a cell format for CUSIPs

Given the ubiquitous use of Excel among Finance professionals, it is a pain to type in CUSIPs (9 digit unique identifiers of securities), as if the security has an "E" as the 2nd or 3rd last character (which is more often than you think), it automatically converts to scientific notation. If Excel could add a special "CUSIP" format where this didn't happen, that'd be a game changer for an entire industry

  8. Preserve large numbers in text format in CSV

Saving to CSV destroys large numbers intentionally stored as text to avoid the scientific notation curse.

I have an 18 digit number in a txt document. I import as comma delimited, forcing text format for the number's column. It displays all 18 digits as text. Good.

I save as .csv and reopen. The text formatting is gone and the number is now in scientific notation with a loss of precision (the last three numbers are 000). BAD!

I start over. I enter the formula ="="""&B2&"""". Upon creating the formula the data is presented as =”345234523454353456” literally.

    After saving as csv…

  9. change data in one area of header/footer on all tabs without changing all the data in all areas please!

we have several tabs that need the same info in the header/footer but also need two areas in the header/footer to be different on each tab. would be great to be able to format this without having to go into each tab for all the same info.

  10. Remove the limit of 3 Conditional Formatting Rules

Sadly, we can only define three rules. Whenever we try to add a new rule after that the first rule is overwritten. That is a bug/glitch, not a desirable feature. We should be able to set unlimited rules instead.

  11. Allow conditional formatting rules to change the ACTUAL font color of a cell.

When I use conditional formatting to change the color of the text inside a particular cell or cells, it works to the extent that I see the new color on my screen, but when I go to the immediate window of VBA and ask Excel what the font color of that cell is using range().font.colorindex, it gives me 1, meaning the ACTUAL font color didn't change. Because of this, I can't code for the color of this cell in VBA, which is what I'm trying to do. The way I have things set up, a certain cell could contain a…

  12. Please allow a function to select more than the 8 default lines in a drop down box.

Please allow a function to select more than the 8 default lines in a drop down box. This would make it easier to scroll drop down boxes of 50 lines or more.

  14. why can rows or colloums not be locked to stop data being seperated?

I want to be able to lock entire rows or coloums so the data that i am entering will not get seperated or mixed up. In my example I am making a spread sheet with more then numbers to be entered and it has very detailed stuff for legal work and it is important for it to be able to be kept together.

  17. Change background for "white" border selection

I tend to invert colors for columns in Excel, means black background, white foreground.

When I set border color to white, borders "examples" in the formatting dialog cannot be seen, because the dialog background is white, too. This makes it hard to e.g. choose the thickness of the border AFTER you chose the color, and it is difficult to tell (except from the little buttons) which border is active and which not.

I suggest to darken the background in the dialog if "white" is choosen as border color or even use the background color of the cells, where the border…

  18. Let add setting to switch gridlines on/off

Now we can do that for current worksheet only. These days it's quite desirable to have an option to keep greedlines off on permanent basis for each new workbook. That could be done using template or by changing/adding registry key https://www.quora.com/What-are-some-ways-of-removing-gridlines-in-Excel-2007.
That will be much more suitable if we have such option in Advanced section of Options.

  19. Auto outline based on the level specified in a cell

There are many types of data which requires hierarchical presentation using outlining.

Unfortunately, current Auto outline is based on subtotals which ties it only to tables which summarize numerical data (every outline tutorial on the Web based on sales examples). Other data types require either manual outlining (which is basically useless in case of frequent changes) or VB macros.

It would be very useful to be able to to auto outline data based on the level specified on a certain column similar to how Word outlines headers based on list numbers. See attached file.

  20. Make cell style a valid criteria for logical functions!

Let's say I want to find all the "good" styled cells in a column and add up their values. Normally, I could use a sumif function, but as far as I know, excel does not support cell style as a logical criterion. Allowing this would let me use sumif to pick all the "good" cells in a column and add them. Tying this in with conditional formatting, using rules to set good or bad cells, would make functions and formatting tie in quite nicely.
