  1. Give user option to NOT take selected/all Defined Names to new workbook when copying worksheet

If you copy a worksheet from one workbook to another, Excel currently also automatically copies ALL Defined Names (even if there is no range in the source workbook to which these refer!). It will also copy without warning names with a different scope to an existing name in the target workbook (i.e. If an existing name has Workbook scope, a copied Sheet scoped name will be copied without an warning of the duplication!). This can result in a huge number of redundant or conflicting Names in the target workbook.

  2. Military Dating formate

The military uses a different date format, and excel does not have it available. So if that format could be included it would add functionality for them. the long way to do it would be (Y=year, M=month, D=Day) YYYYMMDD while the short version is YYMMDD.

  3. Wrap on date formats

Would be great if wrap could work on a date format; at present it doesn't

  4. Merged cells - please after 30 years fix the word wrap onto multiple lines

When you have two merged cells and you have word wrap at the end of the cell the row height does not automatically increase.

  6. Improve Data Validation (make it AutoComplete based on typed characters)

Data Validation needs an auto complete in the List Option
It also needs to support Table Structured references directly in the List option without having to wrap it in a Name

  7. Add rich-text support for Excel

Excel's handling of in-cell text formatting leaves a lot to be desired.

For example, if I have something like 30m^2 (30 square meters, where the 2 is superscripted), and I do a search and replace (e.g., changing m to cm), then the 2 ends up not superscripted any more.
Or if that cell value is concatenated (using a formula like =A1&A2) with another cell value, then the formula does not show the 2 as a superscript.
And it is not even with "odd" formatting like superscripting. Even if I have some letters (but not all) in a cell marked bold,…

  8. Include Text orientation for a cell

In order to view the text in the cell to display alignment , we need to have a option as orientation for the cell.

  9. Paste unlinked to workbook

To copy a formula from one book to another identical book you need to copy the formula to the notepad and then copy and paste it to the new workbook. Need to have a choice to paste it linked to the old workbook or not. Paste the formula with an error if sheet in pasted formula doesn't exist

  10. Align decimal easier

It's currently possible to align by decimals but it's very hard to use. The report to a manager could look much better if 10.01 and 1.01 were centered and aligned correctly. Make this easier to implement. I have to do a web search when I need to find how to do this.

  11. If cell formatted as text, then excel has trouble with strings having between 255 and 1024 characters.

For eg, it cannot search for text string within the cell. Also contents of cell are shown as ##### in spreadsheet.

  12. Add an option to change the default for "Paste" so that it can be "Formulas" or Values"

The default for the Paste button is Paste All. This instantly destroys conditional formatting, other formats, and bordering of regions. There are now a good selection of Paste options below the Paste Button and the ability to select any one of these as the "Current Default" would speed up development time considerably. The Paste button image could be changed to show the current default.

The important ones are to have are "Paste Formulas" and "Paste Values". The best (and simpler) implementation, in my opinion, would be to have the Paste button do Paste Formulas with the button image changed to…
