  1. Here’s an idea – RESPOND TO OUR COMMENTS! PROVIDE AN UPDATE!

    It has been nearly a year since an admin provided an update on the idea, “Restore MDI file handling (open all files in one window); Kill SDI (each spreadsheet opens in a seperate window)”

    Please provide an update. Are you still accepting votes and considering restoration of MDI? Or, should we start looking for alternative products and pirate software to return to a more effective Excel version?

    Again, here are the issues:

    1. Stability
    * I experience ~3X Excel crashes in 2016 (SDI) as compared to 2010 (MDI)

  2. When copying tabs, somtimes we have to cycle through 100s of "Yes" or "No" to the "Name already exists warning" Can we add Yes to All option

    This is a major productivity killer for power users such as finance teams, and current UX does not help exit this state efficiently.

  3. Tables should default to "My table has headers" being ticked

    It's taken me 10 years to realise this but I've never "unchecked" My Table has headers, it's ALWAYS the other way round, forgetting to remember to tick it because Excel hasn't recognised the header row.

    Let's default the tick to always on ?

  4. Number format thousand separator and no decimals

    Every time (many days a year) I train people in Excel, someone ask why there is no button or shortcut to obtain a number format with "thousand separator and no decimals". At least - in northern Europe - this is the most common used number format. If "button-solution" not possible for Microsoft in order to have common buttons world-wide, at least a shortcut for this has been much appreciated. (Note that the current button for thousand separator and two decimals could not be used, though the alignment in that format are not disired/good and two decimals used).

  5. Convert Dynamic Arrays into Tables

    The new Dynamic Arrays make possible to automatically fill down formulas. Tables can also fill down formulas. Microsoft Excel Team could make both features be compatible so we could convert Dynamic Arrays into Tables making them expand and shrink according to the main formula.

  6. Pull Current Stock Prices and Historical Data Into Excel

    Now that our ability to use Yahoo! Finance's API to pull in stock information via the WEBSERVICE() function and import historical information is officially dead (thanks Verizon!), the only viable option currently is to use Google sheets to pull in stock information.

    It would be awesome if Excel could import data from MSN Money so us users can continue to use spreadsheets to monitor our portfolios.

    Hi everyone,
    Stock data types are now available to all Windows Office 365 subscribers with an English editing language installed (our data is only available in English at this time). You can find some instructions on how to use the feature here: https://support.office.com/en-us/article/get-a-stock-quote-e5af3212-e024-4d4c-bea0-623cf07fbc54. The feature will also be appearing in Excel for Mac and Excel Online in early 2019 – as usual, Office Insiders will see the feature before the general population.     One pro tip to locate instruments on a different exchange is to include an ISO country code alongside the symbol, for instance MX MSFT will tell Excel to grab Microsoft from the Mexican stock exchange instead of Nasdaq. We’ll be publishing more thorough documentation in the near future.

  7. Let me choose Decimal separator and Date order in PowerQuery instead of guessing

    When importing textfiles using Get and Transform I always struggle with one thing: I do not know upfront what the decimal separator and date order is of my text file. PQ only offers to choose a Locale, but it does not tell me what date order and syntax, nor which decimal separator belongs to this locale.
    I'd love to be able to just choose the relevant separators and date order from a couple of drop-downs. I can almost always see which it is I need from the data, but I hardly ever know which locale belongs to the specific combination…

    By creating the advantage of the proposed Function and formulas recommended
    Such as recommended pivot tables and recommended charts

    For example, the work of options for the user
    For example if he wanted to compile on terms, he would have the formula SUMIFS ready and only a choice

  10. Default the Power Query formula bar as on

    In the Power Query editor window the formula bar is defaulted as off. This is the first thing I tell people to turn on as it’s key to avoiding unintended errors and future proofing your code.

    As Gil Raviv says in his book, “ Enabling the formula bar is fundamental to avoid the pitfalls”

  11. Ticket #12395436 - Excel arabic

    Hi, we experience an issue with MS Excel and the arabic language pack: User does right click on desktop and selects new Excel Workbook. New Workbook opens and first column A is on the right of the sheet and title of the sheet is arabic. If user just starts excel and creates a new workbook within excel all is working as expected, only if user selects new workbook from right click to desktop this happens. We installed the arabic language pack and this seems to affect the default template of excel.

    Unhiding multiple sheets is a painful task, you have to go one by one. There should be an option to unhide multiple sheets at once.

    Proposal for a built-in function for: Count distinct/unique values in a range

    There might be a dedicated function for counting distinct values in a specific range.
    Currently the following function is a solution:
    =SUMPRODUCT(1/COUNTIF([RANGE],[RANGE]))

    However beginner-level users would like probably a predefined parametric function, sg like this:
    =COUNT.DISTINCT([RANGE])

  17. Add a Reporting Ribbon to Excel to consolidate and highlight the amazing capabilities of Power Query and Power Pivot

    Tables, Power Query, Power Pivot and Pivot Tables are amazing tools that will transform the way people build their reports, but only once they know about them!

    Let's SHOUT about how good these things are and how well they work together by putting them onto a single new Ribbon called "Reporting" - something like the attached image.

  18. Retain text formatting after changing formula references inside shapes/textboxes

    This has been a bug (in my mind) forever. For some reason, if you have an Excel shape nicely formatted and you go to link it to a cell to make the text dynamic, all the text formatting gets reset. This is really extremely annoying if you are creating a visually stimulating dashboard and want to duplicate a bunch of perfectly formatted shapes. Proceeding to link the shapes to various cells so that they display your data completely resets the formatting.

  19. Create a command line tool for signing Office files with a digital certificate

    Besides Office, Excel files can be created using numerous software tools. More often than not, batches of macro-enabled Excel files are processed with scripts for productivity purposes. However, VBA code signing cannot be part of an automated process, as it is a manual task that requires opening & saving the file in Excel.

    This request is about creating a command line tool for signing Office files with a digital certificate, similar to MS SignTool.

    In addition, the existing macro signing process in Office is not 100% compatible with Open XML specifications. I can clarify this statement in a private discussion…

  20. Enable Excel to send a Task to Outlook

    Some users use Excel for tracking of various tasks or operational reviews. At the end, follow-up minutes and tasks will have to be created. It would be great to have a function like in OneNote to create a Task in Outlook. Information about Due Date and Assignee should be embeddable into the cell with a little popup window.
    When in Outlook, you should be able to click the task and go back to the Excel document (and specific cell) stored on the SharePoint.
