Bring back Edit Comments (Legacy) to the RightClick Menu
The new Threaded Comments that appeared in Build 1809 are awesome for 99% of the people. But for the Commenting Gurus anyone who has ever taken the time to build help systems by resizing, recoloring, reshaping and using Show All Comments, we are going to see our comments get destroyed by wellmeaning coworkers.
Yes, all of the legacy icons are available for adding back to the Ribbon, but we the comment gurus can not trust our coworkers and managers to take the time to add these.
My request: If Excel detects any comment in the workbook that is a…

Function and formulas recommended

Suggested to Microsoft EXCEL
By creating the advantage of the proposed Function and formulas recommended
Such as recommended pivot tables and recommended chartsFor example, the work of options for the user
For example if he wanted to compile on terms, he would have the formula SUMIFS ready and only a choice
Also like the search that VLOOKUP uses
And so on
I hope the Microsoft community will support and encourage this idea63 votes
Tables should default to "My table has headers" being ticked
It's taken me 10 years to realise this but I've never "unchecked" My Table has headers, it's ALWAYS the other way round, forgetting to remember to tick it because Excel hasn't recognised the header row.
Let's default the tick to always on ?

When copying tabs, somtimes we have to cycle through 100s of "Yes" or "No" to the "Name already exists warning" Can we add Yes to All option
This is a major productivity killer for power users such as finance teams, and current UX does not help exit this state efficiently.

Directions from 0 to 2pi 1)atan(x,y) 2)atan(E,N) and from pi to +pi 3)atan2(x,y)
1)atan(x,y)=pipi/2*(1+sgn(x))*(1sgn(y^2))pi/4*(2+sgn(x))*sgn(y)
sign(x*y)*atan((abs(x)abs(y))/(abs(x)+abs(y))) when x=x2x1 ,y=y2y1
2)atan(E,N)=pipi/2*(1+sgn(N))*(1sgn(E^2))pi/4*(2+sgn(N))*sgn(E)
sgn(N*E)*atan((abs(N)abs(E))/(abs(N)+abs(E))) when N=N2N1 ,E=E2E1
3)atan2(x,y)=pi/2*(1sgn(x))*(1sgn(y^2))+pi/4*(2sgn(x))*sgn(y)
sgn(x*y)*atan((abs(x)abs(y))/(abs(x)+abs(y))) when x=x2x1 ,y=y2y1
The above fuctions give the directions in the 4 quadrans for all the pairs of dx and dy.
For dx=dy=0 the result is indefinite .

Random value generation
Idea:
Excel might have a builtin function for generating random values.
Two 1dimensional and identical long ranges can include inputs for both the values to be returned and the corresponding weights.
E.g. ["apple","orange","apricot"] [10,20,30] > 30/(10+20+30)=50%, 50% is the probability that the returned value is "apricot".Rationale:
This solution can help to generate datasets with predefined parameters. This can help in teaching, training and modeling activities.
The same approach can be applied for generating timestamps with predefined parameters. This could be utilized for data analysis (monthly, weekly, daily seasons, distributions etc.).23 votes
Give users the ability to put the color back in all the Toolbar icons. The October 2018 white/blue icons are impossible to decipher.

Number format thousand separator and no decimals
Every time (many days a year) I train people in Excel, someone ask why there is no button or shortcut to obtain a number format with "thousand separator and no decimals". At least in northern Europe this is the most common used number format. If "buttonsolution" not possible for Microsoft in order to have common buttons worldwide, at least a shortcut for this has been much appreciated. (Note that the current button for thousand separator and two decimals could not be used, though the alignment in that format are not disired/good and two decimals used).

Create a command line tool for signing Office files with a digital certificate
Besides Office, Excel files can be created using numerous software tools. More often than not, batches of macroenabled Excel files are processed with scripts for productivity purposes. However, VBA code signing cannot be part of an automated process, as it is a manual task that requires opening & saving the file in Excel.
This request is about creating a command line tool for signing Office files with a digital certificate, similar to MS SignTool.
In addition, the existing macro signing process in Office is not 100% compatible with Open XML specifications. I can clarify this statement in a private discussion…

Fix this problem: "sometimes you might find yourself with a workbook that has links you can’t find even though Excel tells you they exist. "

Improve the "Vary colors by point" option
The current version of the "Vary colors by point" option is of limited use and indeed contrary to accepted data visualization best practices, since it randomly assigns different colors to bars. The user should have the option to apply conditional color encoding by assigning colors based on some data, creating a color scale (ramp or categorical). As a practical example, a bar chart displaying population by country could use population density to generate a color ramp for bars or variation by category (continents).

Add cell reference to Data Validation Messages (Input Message, Error Alert)
Please add the ability to use cell references or formulas in the Data Validation Messages (Input Message, Error Alert).
This would make possible to use variable contents. Thanks,

Single Page Zoom
When in Page Layout mode, have the option to zoom out on one page. Word has a "One Page" option in the zoom settings. Excel is default to "Multiple Pages" when zooming out and scrolling. Would be nice to see how the document will appear printed out.
See attached for what is available in Word.

Add Reference R1C1 in the list of commands for the QAT
Sometimes it's interesting to display number as column header instead of the letter.
The only way to do that now is to change the options Formula to R1C1
I would like to toogle the reference of my workbook by adding an option in the Quick Access Toolbar. But this option doesn't exist yet.So please vote for this idea is you want to toogle quickly the reference A1 to R1C1

Add a Reporting Ribbon to Excel to consolidate and highlight the amazing capabilities of Power Query and Power Pivot
Tables, Power Query, Power Pivot and Pivot Tables are amazing tools that will transform the way people build their reports, but only once they know about them!
Let's SHOUT about how good these things are and how well they work together by putting them onto a single new Ribbon called "Reporting" something like the attached image.

Allow for a transparent Manual vs. Automatic Calculation setting by workbook vs. a global setting.
When you have one calculationheavy workbook and distribute it to other people, it would be best if you could turn off calculation for only that workbook, without affecting the other workbooks these users are working on. It is confusing and outright dangerous in potential consequences that suddenly their workbooks do not calculate anymore. On the other hand, if the calculation is on, their whole excel freezes for a considerable amount of time every few keystrokes.
Suggestion: Allow for a transparent Manual vs. Automatic Calculation setting by workbook vs. a global setting.
There should be a popup when you open the…11 votes
Intelligent Chart Axis Numberformat Would Eat Decimal Points
Charts default the numberformat for the axis to the numberformat of the first series. It would be better design (easier for the reader to understand) if the default minimized the number of decimal places. For example, if the yvalues are between 2 and 8, I might show 2 or 3 decimal places in the raw databut I want the chart axis to show whole numbers. I think of this as the chart axis should eat the decimal places where possible. That would be how a professional designer would build the chart, and it should also be the way the Excel…

Vertical Autofilter
Excel allows you to use a horizontal autofilter, the same procedure could be applied to vertical autofilter.
The procedure already exists in relation to the horizontal direction, the vertical's solution could be similar.
Visual design may be the same, only the triangle should be rotated 90 degrees to the right.

Make the Evaluate Formula dialog box resizable
The evaluate formula box is unusable with large and/or CSE formulas. Please just make it resizeable. Thank you.
