  1. Add Center Across Selection to the Merge & Center Drop-down

    Do you hate Merged Cells? Do you believe Merged Cells are evil? Do you curse every time your selection rectangle goes from one column to five columns just because you touched a merged cell? Do you constantly get workbooks from co-workers who continue to merge cells? Tired of not being able to Sort or Paste because someone merged a cell?

    Excel encourages people to use Merge & Center by offering it front-and-center on the Home tab. Thus, few people discover the (superior) Center Across Selection option on the Alignment tab of the Format Cells dialog.

    • Allow Excel Macros to be written in PowerShell

      Allow Excel Macros to be written in PowerShell.
      It would also be amazing if it could be used as an alternative to field functions such as "=PRODUCT(A1:A10))"

      I believe that Microsoft Excel naively supporting PowerShell as a 21st century alternative to VBA would be the most beneficial change made to the software since release.

      Almost all Microsoft products are becoming PowerShell integrated, yet Office remains only supporting VBA.
      VBA is an archaic procedural language which despite its ambivalent love from the community, seems to have little to no place in the modern world.

      • I want to deselect the cell which I copied from after pasting. At the moment, to deselect the cell I copied from, I have to hit Esc button.

        I copied data from a cell.
        I click Ctrl V to paste the data onto another cell.
        But right now, I have to hit Esc button to deselect/remove the dotted lines/take away the focus from the originally copied cell. Does this sound right to you??? N O ! ! ! There is a problem.

          i wants to add an option to filter drop down list which gives output as in inverse select in filter

          example: in a column i have values as 1,2,3 & 4. In a filter firstly i selected with 1 & 3 then with the help of above idea which output is select 2 & 4 in filter.

          • Update Linked Pictures (formerly called the Camera tool)

            Linked pictures give us the ability to switch figures between charts and tables instantly. They allow formulas to determine which icon to display. They allow us to set up visual alerts. And a lot more.

            But linked pictures have a low resolution, which causes small text to be jaggy. They don't have a manual calculation mode. They can mess up data validation. And they can become distorted.

            Please fix these issues.

            • AutoSave Master Switch rather than an "I Told YOu So!" later

              Microsoft has added a new feature to help users co-author files. Whether you are for or against this feature is not my point here: it needs Excel's AutoSave switched on to work. That's fine. But it shouldn't be the default. It is accepted that Office is trying to make various apps consistent, but Excel is used differently. What makes it the most popular software in the world is the ability to experiment without consequences.

              Made a mistake? No fear, close without saving and re-open. Accidentally delete a sheet? Don't worry, close without saving and re-open. Replaced all formulae with =RAND()?…

              • Allow to disable the auto-compile for every DAX change in Power Pivot

                The DAX compiler takes more than a minute to re-compile the model each time I modify the DAX code, or if I change the datatype of a measure.

                This is with "Manual Calculation Mode" set, which if not set would take even more time.

                Sometimes, I need to change many measures in a batch way and it is very painful to have to wait a good 1 minute between each changes.

                A way to pause the compiler and modify many measure would be such help.

                Currently, I have about 1000 measures. Assuming I would like to beautify them (code indentation)…

                • Formatting codes need to be translated inside formulas

                  The formatting codes are different in every language, so for example, for the day is "d" in English, "g" (from "giorno") in Italian, "T" (from "Tag") in German).

                  Working in a multi-language environment where different users have different language settings on their PC gives the problem that when you write a formula that contains the formatting codes, the formatting codes are not translated and the formula doesn't provide the intended result.

                  • "Power BI Service" as a data source in "Get & Transform"

                    It would be awesome if "Power BI Service" is added as a data source under "Get Data" in "Get & Transform Data" in Excel. Though the source availability is already there with "Power BI Publisher Add-in" but it is buggy and hard to deploy on large number of laptops/desktops. Also, it is practically very difficult to educate down the line users about re-enabling this add-in via COM Add-ins in case it disappears from the ribbon which is very frequent in case of this add-in. We have been struggling with this for a long period of time now.

                    • Options for AutoSave

                      The AutoSave function is a great idea!!
                      Just not in practice...
                      In my business we re-use the same invoices made in excel for the same jobs, however save them as a new file each time in order to keep a record of the previous invoice.
                      The new AutoSave feature is extremely dangerous in this regard.
                      If I, or someone else, does not remember to turn off AutoSave, or save as a new file BEFORE making new changes, we LOSE our previous invoice.

                      Have options for AutoSave, the most important one being, DEFAULT OFF rather than default on.

                      • Create Pivot Tables connected to DAX Native Provider

                        Currently, Excel Pivot Tables connects to Analysis Services Tabular data models trough MSOLAP Provider which writes MDX queries back to Analysis Services.

                        MS Excel should be able to use the same provider as Power BI and Power View and natively write DAX queries back to SSAS with enhanced query performance.

                        Currently the only way to use DAX queries is to write a DAX query in the MDX query windows while importing data into Power Pivot, dramatically increasing the file size, duplicating the data into a new data model and having to recreate DAX measures available in SSAS into Power Pivot…

                        • Ability to reference the end of the column or row regardless of the starting position

                          I can enter A:A to reference the entire column or 1:1 for the whole row, but if I want to go from A2:A, I have to enter a number for the end of the range.

                          What if I don't know where it ends? Or where it may end someday? If I type A2:A10000 I'm safe only as long as my data doesn't exceed 9,999 rows, which is hard to determine. I want to reference the whole rest of the column regardless of how much it expands in the future.

                          • improve convert to number from right click menu

                            When Excel detects a range stored as text it gives a icon that you can click to convert the strings to numbers. This however is incredibly slow when applied to a range, it takes more than 1 sec per entry on my i5 windows machine. For a range of 1000+ this take unbearably long without opportunity to interrupt.

                            I wrote a VBA code that simply does a .value = .value and pastes the range back into the sheet. This is 100s of times faster that Excel's built in functionality. Please improve the built-in function's performance

                            • Change default settings for data preview in background

                              I really hope that this is something the team is already working on, but just to make sure:

                              Please change the default-setting in Power Query for Data Load: Background data -> "Allow data preview to download in the background".

                              This should be DISABLED by default.

                              So many people are not even aware of how much unnecessary waiting time this default-settings can cause. At least this "performance"-stopper is avoidable in Power Query!

                              • Invert Filter Selection

                                I'd like to see an option to invert filter selections. For example: If i apply a filter in a table i can select some boxes with a tickmark, but if i want to invert my selection i need to unmark selected itens before and mark the others.

                                In resume, i'd like to invert itens selected in a filter for the others unmarked.

                                    Discovered that there was an update to Office version 1708, which took away the ability to view worksheets or the Page Layout in color. The previous versions 1609 and 1701 allows you to view the worksheets in color.

                                      Excel has gone a long way of development and continues to acquire new functionality. However, the original concept of a tool for tabular calculations with formulas does not develop. The mechanism for entering and checking formulas is obsolete.
                                      Prerequisites for a new tool:
                                      1) The built-in mechanism for entering formulas does not allow you to immediately check the calculation stages for correctness and check the logic.                                         The Error was introduced on 08/25/2017 in Office 365 ProPlus Excel 2016 version 1708 (build 8431.2046), as shown below.

                                        The error occurs when some range of cells as "Unprotected" are selected and this selection is change to “Protect”, making a "Select Locked Cells" and "Select Unlocked Cells" options unchecked, the sheet will be blocked all together. The user can’t click on any cell. However, by right clicking on any cell, the Clear Content option will appear, and clicking on it will clear the cell that was previously unlocked from the protection, losing the data and invalidating the sheet protection.                                         • Fix - Some users lose fill colour formatting when they add a header

                                          For some users when they add a header to the document and add anything to the header it automatically changes the fill colour display on the rest of the document. When the user closes the header (or switches from page display to normal display) the fill colours show up again. It happens to only some users when everyone is on the same windows (10) and excel version (1708).
