It would be great if you could add "Save as CSV" file format to the Save As feature.214 votes

Give users feedback on the "saved" status of a workbook--Explicitly SAY that the workbook is saved rather than leaving us to assume nothing went wrong40 votes
Thanks for the suggestion. This is something we hear from many customers and are already experimenting with.
We would appreciate any specific suggestions on what kind of indication would be most effective for you.
Hide or disable the "Edit in Excel" option when users read or open a document from a SharePoint library in Excel Online
Useers who have ReadOnly permission for a SharePoint Library see the "Edit in Excel" option displayed to them. This will fail when they click since they do not have permission.

To be able to save as PDF right to Onedrive.12 votes
When opening a sheet and discovering that the sheet is locked because someone is accessing the sheet with Excel, we should have a button that will notify the user that I am requesting access.
This would encourage a discussion between the Excel and Excel Online user.8 votes
When I try to open a file that another user is accessing in desktop Excel, I get an error because the file is locked. If real-time coauthoring isn't supported on the desktop, it would be great of Excel Online would give me the option to open and edit a copy of the original so that the files could be combined later.5 votes
Please add Save changes button on the embedded website page, thanks5 votes
We need the ability to open password protected spreadsheets with excel online.5 votes
While customizing the embed option: though I unmark the "Include a download link" option, people can still download the file by clicking on the "View Full-Size Workbook".
Isn't these two options are contradictory to each other when the user doesn't want to let other download the file?4 votes
I have some files that have macros in them that I would like to be able to view without running the macros.
It would be even better if I could add data to them and not break the macro portion so when I open later in a desktop version I can run the macros on the new data.4 votes
I have master files I use as templates, it would be nice to be able to save different versions directly into different SharePoint folders eg currently it will only let me save to the folder the file is currently say templates but if I then use the template and want to save it in "January" I have to do this locally or open to sharepoint windows in ie 11 and move the file across.3 votes
For the Online Excel, it would be nice to be able to upload a file to cloud storage and cloud editing, from a computer that doesn't have OneDrive capabilities (Windows 7 and older). This would be especially useful in situations where you have to work on a file on a non-personal computer, from a flash drive. If the file could be opened in Excel Online and then saved to OneDrive through Excel Online that would be great.3 votes
I want to be able to clear the "recent documents" list that pops up when I click on "Open" link. I noticed that even deleted OneDrive document files are still on the list. If it's not automatically recognized by the system, then the user should be able to delete the name of the file on the list.2 votes
You can do this already today, though you have to do it from within Windows Excel (so I’m leaving the idea open).
To do it:
- if you just want to remove one document – right click on the document in the MRU and choose “Remove from List”
- if you want to remove all documents, follow the instructions here: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/313454
Hope that helps,
Take a look in a Google docs , so then you gonna see what i am talking about.2 votes
Instead of giving an error when the file size is too big, rather open the file in the desktop app and provide a notification to the user2 votes
When trying to open an attachment that is password protected, ask for the password Instead of displaying an error dialogue box.2 votes
Add Support for Box.com to open and save too
Excel Online cannot open .CSV files.
Excel online should allow for this so that it's more like Excel.
Even Google Sheets allows a user to open a .CSV file.
Please allow for this, and also increase the functionality of MS Office Online in general. There is no reason for them to be so severely limited.2 votes
