filter issue
There is inconsistent behavior between filtering on data in the Desktop version of Excel and in the web version of Excel.
In the situation where the top row of the table is a table header with 2 or more cells merged and the actual table headers on the second row with data in each column the following behavior shows.
Desktop Version:
- The top header row is skipped when more than two cells are merged, and filtering starts at the second row where the real headers are. This is the right behavior.
- When only two cells are merged for…4 votes -

Sorting Not Working
Advised by MSO365 support to raise a bug here. The sort function is not working correctly when using excel on the web however when we open the exact same file in the application it works fine.
When we sort a date field in ascending or descending order (as shown in OnlineIssue1 & 2) it does not sort the data correctly as some data is still in the wrong order. If we follow the exact same steps in the application the data sorts perfectly as expected (as shown in Application1).
I dont believe this is a data issue as…

Is there a limit of entries in filter option on the online version?
In the Excel online version, I noticed that when data exeeds 1000 entries, the filter shows a warning message "NOT ALL ITEMS SHOWING".
May MS expand this limit3 votes -
Sorting with merged cells
When attempting to sort and the error pops up that some of the cells are merged and it cannot sort, it would be super handy to know which cells or cell range contain the merged cells. Would you be able to make that happen? Google sheets can do this, which is where I got the idea.

Invert selection
When selecting filtering options, after pressing the down arrow on the right of the column header, a menu comes up with various filtering options and the list of values available in the column.
Sometimes there are many values I can choose from, so selecting those few I need may take time. Often I want to see the opposite, I mean so far I looked at for those few selected, but now I want to have a look at all others. This requires that I invert the selection: everything that was selected so far should be unselected and everything that was…2 votes -
Add Ability to Linear Fit
Microsoft moderators were talking about it back in 2017 https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/msoffice/forum/all/creating-a-trendline-in-excel-online/6b12c339-02e9-466b-86a0-a64e17754610
There should be no reason excel online is as limited as it is.

Maintain filter preferences (sort order) by including all columns
As currently implemented, the 'Sort & Filter' (say: Sort Newest to Oldest) on a single column does not prompt the user to also sort the rest of the spreadsheet ('Expand the selection' to include all other adjacent columns) to maintain the integrity of the spreadsheet as the Excel for desktop application does.
So data edited in Excel for the web can get easily corrupted (especially since changes are saved automatically without user input).2 votes -

Totals of a Sort Function
When I sort I would like to see the total count of all the records shown from the sort.

Please make more mobile friendly. I cannot use the sort options on mobile.
I cannot access the sort feature on an Excel spreadsheet that was shared with me. The down arrows on the headers do not respond in Chrome, Brave, & Samsung browsers. Those are all I have on my phone.

"Can't turn off the total row because formulas or names are referencing it"
When this error happens, you should tell the user where the references are so that they can remove them if they'd like.
