When you share a file and it's opened online via the shared link the receiving person only has access to "edit in browser" but the spreadsheet can't be reduced to fit the screen it needs a (- / +) to resize to your preference as you would on a Excel desktop loaded application in the bottom right hand corner, can this be added?

I can't vote or post an idea.
But this is an absolute MUST. Please, Please, Please add the ability to zoom out/in (without having to adjust your internet browser).
Hold down CTRL and use mouse scroll wheel or keyboard arrows to zoom in and out.
There just needs to be a zoom scale in Excel Online so you can change how big or small it looks. I don't want to have to worry about what % I saved the document at before viewing the document on Excel Online...
Yeah...i agree. Came here to suggest this idea...This is needed.

Seriously, this just needs to be done.
I've had the same problem as Sanjeev. The desktop file (Excel 2007) was originally set to 80%. I've changed the zoom and uploaded it, the zoom stayed at 100% (i.e. I can see the same number of columns in both versions).
Having said that, I agree that users should be able to change the zoom level in Excel Online. You can also add an option to set the default zoom as a preference (so I can set Excel Online to open all files at e.g. 75% zoom).
Make it possible to show the entire sheet in a compressed form. Allow the user to select a rectangle on the sheet and when selected used this to zoom.
Allow the user to use the left-right / up down scroll function from the mouse to move the selected view part.
@Dan i downloaded the excel file and checked the zoom level and it was 100%. However when i checked in excel online it looked bigger. I have uploaded the sample excel file which you can view it for example. Make sure to try it in your laptop, not in bigger monitors. http://1drv.ms/1kxeTYZ
its pretty self explanatory
it needs zoom because i can not read my work it is too small

Hi Sanjeev -
When you see this, is it with files where you've saved a zoom state of less than 100% in Excel Desktop, and then when you open it in Excel Online, that value isn't respected (i.e. it looks bigger).
Or, does this also happen with files that are saved at 100% in Desktop Excel?
The only way I can tell to zoom in on a sheet is by arbitrarily increasing all font size, or use the browser's built-in zoom.
Not sure if anyone has noticed but whenever i open any excel file in office online, the default zoom level looks like in 140 - 160%. I need to zoom out google chrome to 75% to see the document clearly. It would be nice if there was any zoom level within excel application so that we can control the zoom or the best solution would be to open the excel application with zoom level reduced so that i don't need to mess around with zoom.
