Allow for personal user views/filters
When using Excel Online, if you add a filter, everyone using that spreadsheet in Excel Online will see that filter. Can you please add an option for only the one user to see that filter?
Thank you for your continued feedback and responses. We are glad to update that the work for this feature has started.
We’ll share more details as we progress.

Let's start a discussion about this on Twitter! Please respond / RT: https://twitter.com/misterchoo/status/1174240874689118208
Microsoft has no priority for releasing this feature, until any mass media show the world that the famous Excel app is useless for collaborative use, and Google has this feature long ago.
So we need to spread this message.

This is a follow-up to my post from August 19, 2019 11:42. Since then, my support ticket was closed out since the policy is that the engineering team will not engage with customers through support tickets unless the issue is break/fix. Ironically, support had me complete a feature request survey that was rather detailed, including the various use-cases implied by this forum topic for me to stack rank. Ultimately, Support said that for feature requests, either this forum is used, or customers may reach the engineering team using their twitter accounts.
So, I reached out to @msexcel on 9/6 and their reply on 9/10 was to go use the forum ("We rely on your feedback to improve our products and services"). I sent them a link to this thread on 9/10 but I have not heard back from them.
At this point, it may be helpful for more of us to reach out to @msexcel directly and let them know how much appetite there is for a simple status update.

I can understand that this change is very difficult to develop. As I see it Google Sheets have been developed to be a native web-application, whereas Excel Online is an evolution of the Excel Desktop app, re-platformed as a web-application. Redesigning a core feature like introducing private filters is probably something that requires changes in every aspect of Excel and Excel online to get this working.
Nonetheless, clear and open communication is key, and some updates, even when not entirely positive (like: we're behind on schedule, it's more complex than we thought, ...), are clearly required by the community.
Can we get an update on this feature?
Do we have an update on this ?
Having just moved from Google its quite a big issue for some of our departments where they can have upwards of 20 people working from the same document.
where did you read this
Cool to read that this is now in development
This is never happening...
This needs to be done for Desktop as well.

Individual users need to have user-specific views of the filtered list in excel desktop version when collaborating. Note having this makes collaboration very difficult and un-trustworthy as the view changes because of what someone else does.

Is there an estimated time for this function to be available?
It is very important for colaboration in same sheet
Not easy to use the co-author function. the old "share workbook" is easier.
This reminds me of the Wizard of Oz, when the balloon launches prematurely without Dorothy.
The Wizard says "I can't come back, I don't know how it works!"
Taking as long as Brexit :-)
