Please enable macros for Excel on the web.
Without them, I can not properly collaborate with my team using Excel online.
This will now require me to spend countless hours re-writing my excel spreadsheets to be "web" friendly.
This was never an issue in Google Sheets, but now we are being forced to use Microsoft instead of the Google suite, and this is putting me in a very large bind.
Excel without macros and controls makes no sense and is not useful for my job.
The introduction of "Office Scripts" pretty much puts the nails in the coffin of ever enabling macros in Excel for the web.
My issue is that now you have two languages, macros(VBA) for Excel desktop and Office Scripts for Excel for the web.
If they aren't going to enable macros for both, at least then enable Office Scripts to work for both.
These two apps just keep getting further apart in function and features.

Office Scripts is in development and starting to roll-out: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-365/roadmap?filters=&searchterms=61687
This is not macros that we are used to but neither is Google Sheets. More on Office Scripts: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/office/introduction-to-office-scripts-in-excel-9fbe283d-adb8-4f13-a75b-a81c6baf163a?ui=en-US&rs=en-US&ad=US
Here's a brief excerpt from an email I received last week:
In January, we released Office Scripts, a feature that enables users to automate their repetitive tasks in Excel Online, for public preview. We are now transitioning from public preview to making Office Scripts available by default for your organization.
• Microsoft 365 Roadmap ID 61687
• Timing: targeted release begins the end of August; rollout should be complete the end of October
• Roll-out: tenant level
• Control type: admin control
• Action: review and assess by October 1, 2020
After several years it's pretty obvious they are not going to add macros to excel online. Use google sheets.. it has macros available for years now.
Is this ever going to happen. This is getting ridiculous. It was stated this was an active project but how many years will it take?
please enable macros for Excel online
Very Very Needed
Other wise forcefully need to migrate to google app script
Need macro's and VBA scripts support in Excel Online to make the transition from Excel smoother.
Please enabel macros online!!!!!!! I need a live budget with my husband and the macros are crucial to keeping it in order. I desperately want to use Google Sheets because it works but he won't leave this clunky program for it's irritating roadblocks (safety). I loved excel and learned it first but left it for Sheets because they actually work with people!

Have any of you seen what Zoho sheets has done or what even Google docs has done? They are the pioneers for adding VBA scripting to excel online, but as of yet, Microsoft has been really slow to the ball game.

With the advances of WebAssembly I believe it is possible to compile the VBA for web and run VB macroses in the browser.
I understand that there are many features (forms, controls..) that are "simple" windows API calls, and cannot be moved, but there are still many possibilities.
If you're going to allow it (e.g. VBA) to any extent in Excel Desktop, please consider an option that will also enable it in Excel Online.

I support that this is much important.
Yes, this is crying need now to incorporate macros in online excels and it will help to reduce offline versions of office packages.
