PivotTables created with Power BI using Analyze In Excel should work after publishing to Power BI
Power BI's Analyze in Excel functionality allows Excel users on the desktop to create reports using PivotTables and cube formulas connected to a published Power BI dataset. However (and this is very hard to explain to customers) these reports only work on the desktop: even though Power BI allows you to publish Excel workbooks to an App Workspace, reports created using Analyze In Excel do not work after they have been published to Power BI because Excel Online does not support connections to Power BI. Please fix this!
We are working on enabling connectivity from Excel on the web to Power BI. When this work is completed, a PivotTable that is connected to a Power BI dataset will be fully interactive when displayed in Excel on the web. It won’t matter how the PivotTable was created, whether by Analyze in Excel or in some other way. We look forward to implementing and deploying this capability, but I am not yet able to commit to a delivery date.

So ... you guys know Google can already do this, right? https://support.google.com/docs/answer/9703214?hl=en
Microsoft could do this SO MUCH BETTER.
Please make sure that CUBE FORMULAS work when you this this. That (IMO) is the total killer scenario --- so many reports in companies all over the world are done with pivot tables + cube forumas + vlookups. To move those all into Excel Online and have them refreshable... HUGE!

Is there a plan to enable refresh in Direct Query scenarios?

Is this part of the roadmap: Excel on the web - pivot table is connected to Azure Analysis Services. that would be huge for Mac users who currently can't access AAS on their local machines (without a VM)

How about an Excel workbook that is connected to an on-prem SSAS Tabular model (via gateway) or to Azure Analysis Services?

Please review this and the CROSSJOINS being generated on the MDX level every time you don't disable Grand Totals. Please consider having a DAX Generator on the Excel side whenever connecting to both Power BI datasets or Tabular Analysis Services

Can we get an update from the Excel team as to whether this is being considered?

Wondering whether the Excel team reads this at all...

Yep. Google has this now. Wondering when the Excel team will decide this is a priority. https://cloud.google.com/blog/products/g-suite/connecting-bigquery-and-google-sheets-to-help-with-hefty-data-analysis

This reflects very poorly on the Excel team that this isn't completed yet. This is such a critical feature for Excel, which is much better suited at tabular and multidimensional reports than Power BI.

PLEEAASE make it possible!!
Also by making Power BI Reports based on SSAS Tabular with live connection --> After Publishing in PBI Service it should work. -
