When a document is locked (being edited by you or someone else) it would be helpful to know the machine name that where the file is opened.
Someone else has workbook locked
Unfortunately, the workbook needs to be closed or checked in before you can edit it. If everyone uses Excel Online, you can work on it at the same time.
(I know there are opened ideas to show the user who has it opened; however, it would also be great to show the machine name that has it opened as currently, it states that I am editing the file and I don't know what machine it is opened from.)

Having a button to request the person release the file would be awesome

I agree. Plus, where is the option to be notified once the workbook is no longer locked?
I agree. My coworkers and I just ran into the same issue.

make it easier (one click) to ask the person to release the file.

Having a look in Excel user voice, I realize a lot of you have created an entry for the files locked. It would be more efficient to group....

i want to see my data
Let me know who has the file locked so I can ask them to unlock it.
I was trying to edit shared excel online and i received message like "Someone else has this workbook locked" now how i should notify "Someone" Please replace "Someone" with the username who has opened this workbook so another one can actually notify him to close.
If its a privacy issue then Admin should notify about same.
