Excel Online Cell Movement After Enter
When editing an Excel Online documents, hitting [ENTER] will drop you down to the next row, same column. Generally hitting [ENTER] will return you to the next row, but in the column your previous modified cell was in.

+1 to Robin:
For those of us who enter a lot of data moving from side to side in a row rather than down in a column, having the option to modify the direction of the highlighted cell after pressing "Enter" is critical to our productivity. Please add this feature!
This should be an option that you can choose either down a cell or right a cell after enter is pressed.

I would like to be able to modify the direction the of the highlighted cell after pressing "Enter" when using the online version of Excel just like you can in the desktop version. You have to know that people will be entering volumes of data in this product and to not have that flexibility in the online version is puzzling. I wonder if Google's spreadsheet product has that ability?

I would like to see the option of being able to modify the direction of the highlighted cell after pressing [ENTER] in the online version of excel please.

This is a very annoying thing to happen when you are entering a lot of numbers in a line. I would like to get it changed like the desktop version and have the cursor land on the next line but in the column of the first entered cell. As an accounting professional, the way that it's set up now takes more of my time to use my mouse to move the cursor where it needs to be. Please change this!!!

After Pressing Enter Move - this should be available in Excel 365 also for ease of data entry

This critical user interface function should operate identically to desktop Excel. We frequently enter data into multiple cells per row in our business use. In Google Sheets, we could simply enter data, 'tab', enter data, 'enter', and it would drop us down a row, but to the first cell in the next row. Excel online drops us to the second cell in the next row. Why would Excel Online even change this? It's basic Excel functionality, and has been for years

Echoing a comment said already by another user - if this is not the default action, it should at least be an option that can be customized for users who want it like in the Desktop version. At the very least, create a separate keyboard shortcut for this function. Otherwise, it makes data entry incredibly tedious.

And tab does not work either, both of these functions are used always when using excel, adding these functionality to excel online would be great thanks!

Start at A1. Enter data, <Tab>, enter data, <Tab>, enter data, <Tab>, enter data, <Enter>
Should take you to B1, not B4. -

I found it [don't move on "Enter"] under "Options". Thanks.

Don't move the cursor on "Enter".

Please make this customizable. Very time consuming at data entry to hit an arrow key after Enter to move the cursor to the cell you intend to use next

Please make this customizable as with the desktop version. Very frustrating to have different behavior in different versions.

I too feel this feature is critical to business functions. We use excel for stock taking worksheets and use a bar code scanner. Each time we scan to an online worksheet we then have to manually change the direction of the cell.

I need to be able to have the cell shift to the right when I hit enter. Please update asap! Thanks!

The default cursor movement of Excel online should be identical to the client version of Excel. Entering data in the online version is cumbersome at best. Without this feature, it will be difficult to convince users that Excel online is a good option for their daily work. They will quickly notice this productivity preventer.

need a way to change default cursor movement in Excel Online after hitting enter. Yes, you can change cursor movement via Options when editing locally - but there is no Options selection Online
