request was taking too long
NEED HELP! This issue doesn't make any sense. I've tried all solutions found in https://blogs.technet.microsoft.com/officeonlinesupport_blog/2015/05/04/excel-online-request-was-taking-too-long/ to no avail.
So now I'm stuck with a file that I cannot open online. THE WHOLE POINT OF SHAREPOINT is to COLLABORATE ONLINE. Not possible when you cannot open a file. I cleaned it up. Went from 6MB to 2MB. still not able to open.

I figured it out. I was told by Microsoft that vlookup didnt work online, but they didnt explain this in detail. I did have vlookup in my file, and i've seen it work before.
Issue was that a user changed the vlookup formula to reference a complete different spreadsheet. this was the culprit and didnt allow me to open file online. once changed to only reference internally, file opened online.
