There is no way to select non-adjacent cells as in normal Excel.
In order to tot-up figures, it is useful to be able to use Ctrl+click and select different cells. There is no functionality in Excel online to do this currently.
We are excited to announce that it is now possible to select non-adjacent cells in Excel for the Web.
There are still several functionalities that are not available on non-adjacent cells, but the Excel team is working to add them.
Please continue to leave feedback to help us improve.
Can you confirm the fix will work on the iPad iOS version?
When are we going to get this feature??

I cannot believe that I just paid to upgrade Excel, specifically to work with One Drive, and I cannot use a simple tool (highlighting non adjacent tools) that I use constantly on Excel. Seriously?
Seems like it should be easy since it is available in the desktop versions.
Wee need this feature, why is Microsoft so resistant to let this function to work on the online version?

I don't know if this works on Excel web for Windows, but it doesn't work for Excel web on Mac. This is a pretty crucial function so hopefully this happens soon.
Planned is good. Done is better.
Cannot happen soon enough.

Wow. I almost accepted that this would never get fixed.
Say it together everyone: FINALLY
This is one of the reasons I would use Google Sheets instead Excel Online, also a missing feature that became apparent within 5 minutes of using Excel Online for the first time.
In the times of remote working, nobody wants to install desktop apps.
You'd better improve your web versions with the same features as desktop.
If not, people will still find Google solutions more helpful.

4 years without a single move from MS, to correct what is one of the 3 ou 4 basic features of a spreadsheet. This is outrageous. I cannot think of somethink else than an intentionnal move from MS.
Unfortunate find for a newcomer to this wonderful program
I absolutely need this function to continue to use spreadsheets!
In COVID days, Teams has become a must. But it comes with this horrible problem!
