  1. Give Office Scripts access to an XML library

Most of our VBA macro spreadsheets involve generating XML imports for other programs. I would prefer to move to Office Scripts and One Drive, but cannot find an interface to build an XML document like the DOM API.

Thank you for adding your request.
Couple of clarification questions to help understand the ask:

    • Is the goal to generate XML document from the script? How will the XML be passed to the other programs? Do you intend to use Power Automate flows for that?
    • Could you please elaborate on which specific DOM APIs are you looking for?
      For instance:
      const doc = document.implementation.createDocument("", "", null);
      const peopleElem = doc.createElement(“people”);

  2. Ability to hide an Office Script created in one Excel Online file from other Excel Online files

I would like the ability to hide an Office Script that I create in one Excel Online file from my other Excel Online files.

And, even more useful: while only scripts created within a file should display by default in that particular file's Script Gallery under the Automate tab, when we select "All My Scripts" (which displays my scripts in the Code Editor pane that opens at the right), it is here that I would like to see all Scripts from all of my Excel files, and from here be able to enable and disable whether a script is available…

Thanks for the detailed explanation. A couple of follow-up questions to help understand the requirement:
    1. Would an additional action by the user such as ‘Pin this script’ to the workbook be acceptable?
    2. I understand the organizational aspects of the ask. Are there scenarios where you do not wish to run scripts on certain workbooks?

    Thank you.

  3. bind office script to events

bind custom functions written with office scripts to events such as "onChanged" as described in the documentation for addins:
    https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/office/dev/add-ins/excel/excel-add-ins-events

    it's essential to enable automation

    Thank you for the feedback.

Currently, events APIs are not supported within Office Scripts. One of the main reason is that events can be long running and scripts have a defined start and end points. Unlike an add-in, the script doesn’t stay in the background to listen in and act on the events.
Could you please let us know how you’d utilize events API support? That will definitely help us understand the requirement better.

    Thank you

  4. Excel tabs

Excel tabs in teams keep jumping around it would be great to be able to lock the tab order in place.

    Hello everyone,
Thanks for submitting this idea and voting for it.
We need more information for better understanding of this request.
Sheet tabs should not “jump around”, unless someone is reordering them.
Is it a bug or a feature request? Is it still relevant?
Any additional information will help us prioritize and handle this issue.

    Thanks,
    Itai from Microsoft

  5. Add ability to show pictures on Excel Online to view on browser

Our Sales team always view their excel documents from the different device from the browser. The pictures are on the file not shown when open from the browser. The pictures really important for users.

Can you give some more detail on what you are looking for?

Excel Online will already show pictures (JPG, PNG, etc,) that are contained in the file.

Do you mean shapes? (rectangle, circle, etc.)

Or, do you mean something else?

    Thanks,
    Dan [MS]

    Hi David,

Can you give more specific steps that you’re trying to do – I’m not sure I follow the issue that you’re raising.

    Thanks

  7. Refresh PowerPivot Data in O365 Excel from External Source

It is frustrating to me that external data refresh is supported in Excel Services in SharePoint but is not supported in Office 365. It is frustrating that to work with any external data you must open the workbook in the desktop client.

Did you know that you can actually refresh workbooks in Office 365 when you publish them on PowerBI? Try it out at www.powerbi.com

Is that what you were looking for?

If you have specific external sources that you are missing, please provide more specific information

  8. Add univariate scatterplots

For small sample sizes, it is better to show all the data. This is a movement in how data is being presented in the life sciences. Right now, it is hard to make this type of graph in Excel. There is a template someone made (http://journals.plos.org/plosbiology/article?id=10.1371/journal.pbio.1002128) but it would be great to have it as an option in Excel in general (especially the online version which allows better real-time collaboration).

I’m not sure I understand. I read through the article which speaks to the need for showing discrete data in the form of scatterplots, box plots, and histograms instead of bar and line graphs. We have always supported scatter charts in Excel and have recently added box plot and histogram in Excel 2016. Could you further clarify your request?

    Thanks,

  9. Short link to shared documents

It would be nice to have short links to shared documents instead of long ugly links, so we don't need to use external shorteners for internal documents (we should't share links to outside of company).

Thank you for your feedback. Short Link is a Host functionality and not specific app functionality. OneDrive Consumer and Box support it. SharePoint and OneDrive for business require using a free SP app or 3rd party tools. Hope this answer your feedback, if not, can you please provide more info?

    Hi James,

Can you expand on what you mean a bit more – maybe with some examples? I’m not sure I understand what you’re getting at here.

    Cheers,
    Dan [MS]
