  2. Add Support for Shapes

For over two years now Excel Online has failed to support Shapes added in the Excel Desktop and this is major issue for many applications and document workflow.

The compromise put in place by Microsoft is dysfunctional because Shapes cannot be Viewed or Edited in Excel Online and it forces users to either:

    1. Create a copy of the file to Edit Online (strips Shapes) > now we have two different Versions!

    2. Open the Excel Document in Excel Desktop

I suggest at a minimum, that Shapes can be viewed and cell links to Shape text is updated if used.

    Ultimately, the…

I am happy to announce that shapes can now be viewed! 
Enabling shapes for editing and insert shapes is on our backlog.
Thank you all for voting and influencing Excel Online priorities.
Keep voting for other ideas you want the product team to address.

    Thanks,

  3. Examine copy and paste function within the browser version of Office 365 Excel

Copy and paste function is so hit or miss in Office 365 Excel.

For example, formatting of tables is completely lost even when I'm copying and pasting from one tab of Office 365 Excel to another.

We update the experience of Excel Survey with a new experience. Excel Survey will be powered by Microsoft Forms and will be renamed “Forms for Excel”. This update comes with a modern experience to make it simple and easy to collect information into Excel in real-time, with all Microsoft Forms features.

Themes and checkbox (multi answer choice) has been supported. You could get more detail form – https://aka.ms/formsforexcel

It would be great if you could provide feedback for us – https://aka.ms/excelsurveyfeedback

  6. Email notification from Excel Survey

In Excel Online using the Survey option. When a survey is submitted there should be a option to have an email alert sent to the owner of the survey so they can check the spreadsheet for the results. Google Docs has this function and their forms tool works well.

    Hi,
    Thank you for your feedback.
We have completed the work for opening CSV files. Editing CSV files will require it to be converted to XLSX format.

Please continue to use Excel on web and please vote for your favourite features to influence our backlog priority.

    Thanks,
    Excel on web Team

We are excited to announce that it is now possible to Duplicate worksheets in Excel Online.

There are still cases where Excel Online will be unable to duplicate a worksheet. Most notably, in case either one of the following is present in the worksheet:

    • Images
    • Shapes
    • Charts

Excel Online team is working to resolve these limitations.
Please continue to leave feedback on the feature, to help us improve.

  9. Add more question types to Excel Surveys (Google Forms has many more). Allow image support and layout changes on surveys.

Google Forms has more useful question response types that Excel Surveys does not have (i.e., multiple choice with radio inputs, checkboxes, grid, and scale). They also have image and video support and layout customization, which Excel Surveys does not. It would be nice to be able to add a logo to the heading of my surveys.

  10. Summary of Results for Surveys

I have been using the survey in O365 and Forms in Google Drive and here is what I am looking to see from the survey app in O365.

In google forms there is an option to select "Show Summary of Responses". In one click the user sees the collated results from their survey instead of having to count the results, create a new table and then graph them.

I would love to see this functionality added so that it speeds up the process of analysis with surveys. Our Social Science Department at our school really liked creating surveys in Google…

  11. Allow Ctrl+Arrow navigation (as in Excel desktop app).

As a keyboard warrior I use this often, and Excel Online really hinders that workflow. Ctrl+Arrow navigation in documents of all kinds (even text fields online) is very important to me.

    Hi all,

Great news – we’ve made much of the functionality that was previously available only in the hosted Office Online offering available on-prem. Data Validation, Sheet Protection, etc. are available there now.

To read more, and learn how to get the updated on-prem version, please see this blog post: https://blogs.office.com/2016/05/04/office-online-server-now-available/

(and yeah, sorry it took a while to update this UserVoice idea – we completed this idea back in May!)

    Cheers,

Thanks for your feedback! We’re reviewing your suggestion. Remember, the more votes a suggestion gets, the more likely it is that we’ll do it.

  14. Provide an embedding code for an Excel survey to display on the Sharepoint site (not the workbook!)

Rather than just providing a link for users to click on, it would be more practical and visually pleasing to embed the survey directly into a website.

Thanks for submitting this request! Based on your feedback, we’ve fixed that issue and it’s now available in production as part of the new sheet tabs bar UX. We invite you to go and try the new design and improved functionality of the sheet tabs, including a new drop-up sheet menu. We’d be happy to get your feedback!
    Thank you,

  17. Ability to hide or collapse rows. (Using Outlining - Group/Ungroup)

The functionality exists if a spreadsheet is uploaded with it already in there, but if there are more rows to be collapsed it can't be done online.

[10/20/2015 - Dan [MS] - updated title to reflect the feature that this is requesting - Grouping/Outlining]

You should be able to change the color of your bars on a bar graph. Like on Excel Online, you can't change your bars different colors.

    Hi,

We’re happy to announce that we’re currently rolling out a format task pane for charts. This enables many formatting actions including color formatting of data series.

Once the update reaches you, it can be accessed through the “Format” button, found by right-clicking on a chart or by selecting a chart and navigating to the “Chart” tab that appears in the ribbon at the top of the screen. Thank you for your continued feedback and responses.
